Animania Con Ja Nai XIII Contest
Once again, I come bearing news of an AMV contest. Really. Once again, time is somewhat short. Still, that's not my fault.
The rules are unchanged from last year.
The full rules are linked at the bottom (including submission information), as well as the submission form.
Perferably, submit the video via ftp . Snail mail is possible, but less reliable. NO VHS TAPES! They'd make nice coasters, but other than that I wouldn't know what to do with them.
As resuming uploads is a little tricky with the server and settings I'm using, incomplete uploads will be deleted automatically. So if your upload is interrupted, you'll have to try again. Sorry. Also, once you upload, you won't see the file on the server, just so you are aware.
Formats: In short, if I can play it, it's all good. But be reasonable, please. I don't want to deal with multi-gig HuffYUV submissions, OK? MPEG and MPEG2 are fine, as well as DivX, XviD, or other common codecs in an AVI are fine. I'd prefer not to have to handle Makostra or Ogg files. Also, I'm not about to handle Quicktime or Real files. Please note that I may transcode the videos if they don't playback properly or if they are in a problemtic format (for me) like Ogg or Makostra. x264 is MP4 is a bit iffy, but I think I can handle it.
Content Guidelines: If it's Org-friendly, then it's fine. Anything else is subject to potential rejection.
Submissions: I would prefer relatively new videos. Be nice.
Contest itself: The categories are action, comedy, drama/serious (includes romance), and the generic other. These may be subject to revision based on entries.
Deadline: November 4. This may be subject to being pushed back some, but don't depend on it.
Awards & Prizes: There will be a winner in each category. Other awards may or may not occur as the judges see fit. There may or may not be prizes, depending on whether or not the club manages to get t-shirts made or not.
The event itself will be on November 11, in Ann Arbor, on the campus of the University of Michigan. Probably. Either the 11th or the 18th, the University hasn't told us which date we can use yet.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

From Bauzi:
Sounds nice... I think I can handle it to create a new vid until the deadline.
I have this contest feeling in my mind
@Kalium:
I´ve you have problems with encoding... have you ever tried avs-scripts in work with Virtual Dub Mod? I think so... Than try the programm "River Past" to transform every video format (and if I say "every" I mean every!) into avi. Well its not for free, but you know what I mean...

A thought occurs.... My newest AMV has video game clips from games such as Tezuka Osamu's Dororo, Devil May Cry Series, Onimusha, and a few others.... Would that be cool if I used them?

Well, when my upload finishes, you'll be down to needing 59 minutes of stuff. If I actually manage to finish my DepreCon video by the end of next week, I'll send that one in as well.
