we're getting off-topic here.
salemshady and madbunny: being rude won't get you anywhere. Shake hands and say you're sorry.
godix: my voodoo doll of you is almost complete. When it's done, I'll make a voodoo doll of decoy and have the two of them fuck each other through every orifice I can think of.
Now, back on the topic: Larger avatars = more bandwidth consumption = more money down the drain that should be used for more important things around here. I'd appreciate an increase to 100x100, but there are other things that the admins probably consider more important. As for the 6KB limit, that only applies if you host your avatar here. Given the ammount of free image hosting services on the web, you have to be mentally challenged in order to let that stop you.
And on a sidenote to salemshady, you can resize any picture you want in PAINT. Not that tricky. The only software in the world that can't resize an image is probably Notepad. Actually, if you use Notepad to write AVS scripts, Notepad can resize images. So take a picture of the cover from A Matter of Life and Death and make yourself the greatest avatar in the entire f-ing forum with only 80x80 pixels.

And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

time consumed: 10 minutes, including hunting up the images and re-hosting them
programs used: MSPaint and calc.exe, because Paint demands resize values in percentages rather than pixels.
Count me as yet another voice against expanding avatar sizes; 80x80 is just fine, and y'all should be glad we don't have a cap of 64x64 like the other forum I regularly use...though strangely, nobody there ever bitches about it.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

I'll have to agree with the NOT changing avs side. Yeah, 100x100 would be more convenient, but it is not that hard to resize and it is not that hard to host it on imageshack, photobucket, or any of those free hosting sites. Besides, if you need a poster sized artistic representation of the story of your life or your favorite bishie to express yourself in a forum where you will be expressing yourself with words anyway, you need to rethink your life. The point of the forum is to express and debate ideas involving amvs. With the exception of the avatar thread in the screencaps, it is not to showcase avatars. And as Gepetto said, there's a lot better things that bandwidth can be going towards. Besides, its not that hard to make a decent looking 80x80 av under 6kb. My current one is under 6 kb. And I think its pretty nifty and fairly decent quality. And I've seen a lot of other really nice ones out there that are within the size limit.
