Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forstall my return.

Whoops. I was making an assumption based on AKROSS being a russian con. Oh well.chosef wrote:That last statement is awesome and true, all the stuff before it aren't though(like he ain't no russian, and that's not the reason)
I have had indications some russians are upset. So far I've only heard one or two comments about this and they have all been polite. AFAIK the issue is as much that they don't understand what I was doing as much as it is that I insulted WotB. I blame language difficulties so they probably didn't get the word play and the fact most russians aren't active on the org so they would have missed a fair amount of in jokes.Anyway the reason I post it is to know... Did people really take that one parody seriously and actually bugged you about it?

1. Russians are not pissed off. Well, at least not more (or less) than any other people who found you load of bs at the first place. And among them of course were some people who did not appreciate a good parody.

2. We do think, a-m-v.org's opinion system is no good. But we cannot offer anything better.
3. AKROSS system works different. And we think it's better for us (duh, that's why we use it). But we also understand that it would never work for 500 000 amvs. 100 that is expected this year is gonna be a real problem.
4. NoGreyProduction's opinion, as favorable to us as it is, is his personal opinion.

So... wow.
use proxies and fake accounts to spam yourself with great looking ops. Anybody that felt 'proud' of actually getting a good score using your system would also feel proud going to a movie with a puppet on their hand and bragging about how they got laid by stroking off the next day.
You're missing the whole point of the ops system. The idea isn't to get a great score. The idea is to get feedback on what other users thought about your video. Feedback, that I feel compelled to point out that I left as an 'actual' op for DTSEM by the way. Read it, just posting 'monkey' five thousand times is dumb.
The point of GOdix' joke was that any system can be manipulated. Essentially, anything that relies on a numerical tabulation can be messed with. Either that, or he was just feeling particularly jerky and wanted to stroke himself even more.

I think people are confusing the opinion system with the rating system.
The opinion system is perfectly fine. It allows people to articulate their opinions as clearly as they like and put nice numbers next to them. It has worked many a time for me, especially when I sought detailed opinions from people without any presumptions as to the ratings and criticisms that would be forthcoming. When I wanted to know what people picked up on in my videos, it usually delivered.
The rating system is also perfectly fine. Just that as any rating system, it is inherently prone to attention whores and various statistical abuses. Well, live with it. And if you think abuses in the top 10% are not looked after on the .org, you're very wrong. The top 10% is usually an objective reflection of the tastes of the larger audience. What that may or may not say about the larger audience is irrelevant in this case and doesn't justify your pretenses.
AKROSS has a different system, yes, but I think the real virtue of that system is its tendency to be a little more critical. The top videos there are "critically-acclaimed" as we might say - whereas in the case of the top 10% here, little of what makes them 'top' has anything to do with criticism.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
