Pandora's Box

Post by Tiara of the Wind » Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:57 pm

Well, I finally finished the "Dark Chest of Wonders" project. I really didn't have much to work with, just a bunch of random stuff. Then again, I'm a very random person.
The video is at my profile.

I decided to give it the title of 'Pandora's Box' because, the human imagination is a dark chest of wonders. All sorts of incredible ideas have come out of it, and I paid homage to some of my favorite anime. I hope to improve my style as I keep making AMVs.

Well, I downloaded it out of curiosity, since someone asked if it was mine under a different handle (I have a video with the same song and same title O.o)

Work on your timing and watch out for using too many static shots, where nothing's really happening for a long time, especially with such a high-energy song. But overall, it was a pretty good first attempt. Keep it up :)

Thanks. Yeah, it could've been better (I did the whole thing in one day, and I was still getting the hang of Windows Movie Maker). The title is meant to refer to the human imagination, and what amazing things can come out of it. If I ever redo it, I'll improve on it.

- Subtitles.
- Lots of footage from intros with song lyrics and such.
- Sequence of clips seems pretty random, what exactly is your concept?
- The beginning and ending graphics aren't pretty. Text is oddly positioned on the screen (just a plain centered title would be better). The half screen scrolling thing doesn't look good, nor does the bright red box on the blue background.
- This Nightwish song is used way, way, way too much.

Though I really don't care how long you spend on an AMV if the AMV is good, I bet this vid would be 200% better if you spent more than a day on it. Or at least designed a basic flow structure before editing.
