Horror is one of my favo genre's and all I have to say asto what you could or rather should do is the fallowing.
1 Dont go for over the top syncing. Unless your going into a thriller or shock section on wich you want to drag both the line of sanity aswell as the seizure down to the max. A good example is syncing a bad acid trip too ambient shatter sounds.
2 Never leave a scene or shot clean. A thing I always find lacking in 99% of the horror video's is the dirt of anxiety, fear, anger and pain. In other words make your fotage dirty by experimenting with colour's aswell as distores of many kinds. Also try thinking outside of "normal" editing with these things.
3 Keep people in the dark. Never give them all the info nor the full image. This is also where the distores come in when something isnt clear people will start to come up with their own speculations asto what is going on and what that is what they are looking at.
Oke I'm getting a little offtopic concidering the first line in the post thus I'll kick some focus on that aswell. I think unconvential and out of the box of clean syncing or clean scenes. A good horror example is the video in my sig aka
F.E.A.R.. I dont want to brag but in my own opinion the best piece of horror i've seen in a long while. And it clearly shows how I take horror as a genre aswell as how I impliment it...
No clue why I'm taking this post so serious though so I'll call it quits =O
In other news, Expect some more horror coming your way.
