Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

What the hell. I'll provide my thoughts. I'm bored, I've got the time, and being your first amv and for not bumping this thread like crazy just to get some attention, I decided to give it a chance. Besides, I've seen how hard it can be to get some feedback on amv's that used overused unoriginal sources of anime/music.

I'll get the bad parts over with now.

-I don't personally care about originality or place it in high regards, but many people clearly do. Because dbz is so overused, people are bound to call you on it if they decide to leave some feedback. So I thought I might as well tell you that now just in case you weren't already aware of that.
-The footage quality could've been a lot better.
-I remember one scene having subs. In general subs should be avoided unless they clearly do something for the vid.
-One scene had subs right in the middle of the screen. Plus I could'nt read it too well thanks to the white lettering and the light background. But then again, I didn't really try to go back and make out what it said either. (But then again, I should'nt have to)

But here's what I liked.
In general, this amv contained a couple of things many other first attempts I've seen lacked, especially when using dbz.

-footage actually matched the energy and mood of the song quite well. You used some real intense parts of the fight to match the appropriate parts of the song nicely.
-It's been awhile since I've seen the frieza saga. (years actually), but I think for the most part you also did a nice job at avoiding using long uneditted scenes. In other words, it wasn't just one long untouched fight scene to a song. Or at least it didn't feel like it.
-Despite my comment above about the scenes with subs, you did avoid having a large amount of scenes w/ subs in them. Something a lot of people don't do.
-I also don't remember there being any watermarks or logo's on your footage either which is another thing that separates this from all the first attempts I've seen.

Case in point, you did a nice job here technical aspects aside. You attempted a dbz action amv, and did it well especially for your first amv. I'd like to see what your work would be like should you continue to do this and get better.
My next biggest project to come...

Well, thanks for this in-depth thought.
Yeah, I know, DBZ is a very old anime where there is already so much AMV about. But, for my first attempt, I wanted to create something with the "cartoon" who did me discover the anime and manga world. In other word, it was a tribute to DBZ.
