Shrinking video

I'm new to video editing and my results end up pretty huge (file size wise).

I orginally tried to produce the final product as .avi but the file size would be enormous.

I then switched to .mpeg2 and I'm getting under 100mb but it's still alot for as short of video's I make.

Is there any tips or secrets to keep the size of the file down while not sacraficing quality?

yes...here's how it's done

H.264 video and AAC audio can achieve much smaller filesizes than xvid...but I haven't had enough experience with these to give out much help...
