Can a video iPod...?

Post by j-rad306 » Sun Sep 10, 2006 1:01 pm

Out of curiosity, can a video iPod play QuickTime movies? I just wanna know before I decide what size of video iPod I wanna buy (when and if I do).

Is this the right place to be asking this kind of question? I'm just really, really curious...

there is a freeware converter (I can't remember the name right now) you can get that will convert pretty much any video I've thrown at it into a format suitable for ipod. I'll check my home computer and post the name up here later.

There's one at http://www.jodix.com that can convert anything quite simply, but you don't get a lot of options, just bitrate and resolution adjustments.

Well, Avisynth, faac and x264 can work reasonably well; although, in that case, the terminology is wrong.

also, if you felt like it, you could load linux onto your ipod, and then it'll be able to play any video file you put on it, and any song file i believe, also, there's way more games, such as Doom for ipodlinux ^^

Um, when did the iPod Linux guys get video working? Their project status page says that they don't even know if video iPods will work.
