The following are the 2006 Contest Rules, including the Hentai AMV contest Rules.

The Entry Forms can be found at Youmacon.com. They can also be found at http://www.ngsilver.com/contests/youmacon/ along with a downloadable PDF of the rules.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please read through all the rules before entering!
Entry Requirements:
· Each individual may enter up to 2 videos for the normal contest. Each video must be submitted for different categories however.
· Only videos created after November 3rd 2003 will be accepted.
· All videos are allowed to be submitted to the contest as long as they were made after the creation date in the last bullet and have not competed at a previous Youmacon AMV Contest.
· Multi-editor videos will count as 1 entry for each editor involved. However, you may submit as many multi-editor videos you have been a part of as you like and they will count as only 1 of your entries. Limits on running time for Multi-editor videos are not set in stone and will vary.
· Entries may not contain bumpers, title screens, MTV style credits, or any other form of identification. We will be creating our own uniform bumpers and we will not remove them for you.
· The running time for videos may not exceed 6 minutes or be shorter then 25 seconds.
· Videos must contain at least 50% anime or video game footage.
· All videos must be in the hands of the Contest Coordinator by October 14th.
· By submitting your video(s) to this contest you authorize us to screen and distribute it under the Youmacon AMV Contest Title. All physical media (CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, ect) submitted becomes the property of Youmacon Enterprises and will not be returned.
· Entries may be disqualified for the following reasons: Objectionable content in the song or video, bad audio or video quality, subtitled footage, failure to adhere to submission rules, lack of signed entry form, or any reason Youmacon AMV Staff deems necessary. If you are unsure if your video would be disqualified due to the above rule e-mail the contest coordinator and we can view the content of your video and make a decision.
· Exceptions to the rules will be made on a video-by-video basis.
Entry Format:
· Entries will be accepted in the following formats:
o AVI
§ HUFFYUV (preferred)
§ DIVX
§ XVID
§ DV
o MPEG
o MPEG-2 (preferred)
· Videotape and DVD formatted entries will NOT be accepted. WMV, RM, and MOV files will also NOT be accepted. (You can output into an AVI format from Windows Movie Maker. If you are unsure how, the animemusicvideos.org forums will be able to assist you in doing so)
· All videos should include at least 1 second of black space before and after the video.
· Digital Video File format specifications (This is how each video will be encoded for the contest showing):
Contest Information:
· All videos screened at the contest will be converted to the specifications listed above. Submitting your video with these specifications will save AMV staff conversion time, and allow you to preview how your file will look.
· The contest will be played from via a Realmagic Hollywood+ card. You can still find these cheap on EBay if you wish to see how your video will appear on screen.
· The backup display option will be via S-video output from a GeForce graphics card.
· The normal contest’s running time will be 2 hours. If we receive more videos then we have time for we will have to cut videos from the contest pool. A listing of videos selected for the screening will be posted on the convention’s and a-m-v.org’s forums. We apologize if your video does not make it into the contest, but this step is necessary.
· Video selection will be broken down like this:
o Disqualified videos are removed first
o Remaining videos are ordered by category. The videos in each category are then counted and equalized until entries of one type are exhausted. If time is not met, category sizes are increased in increments until time is met.
o Original entries are given priority over trolling entries. Also, entries designated as 1st pick by the creator are given priority over 2nd pick. In other words, trolling entries and 2nd picks will be cut first if the need arises.
· The following awards will be given:
o Best Action
o Best Drama
o Best Romance
o Best Comedy
· In the case where a lack of entries are present in a category in order to compete, those videos will then be added to a similar category. Ex, Romance added to Drama, Upbeat added to Action.
· The contest will be judged by a panel of judges at the convention as well as by the attendees present at the Friday showing.
· AMV Department staff will select a panel of 2 creators, 2 non creators, and 2 guest judges.
· The judging panel will choose the winner(s) of the following awards:
o Best Technical
o Best Staff
o Most Original Concept
o Best of Show
· The attendees will chose the winner(s) of the following awards:
o Best Action
o Best Drama
o Best Comedy
o Best Upbeat
o Best Romance
o Fan Favorite
· The Staff Pick will be chosen by Youmacon Staff.
· Judging Ballots will be handed out to the audience before the competition and will be deposited in drop boxes at the end of the screening. The scores will then be tabulated and winners announced at the award ceremony and finalist showing on Saturday of the con.
· You do not need to be present to win. However if you want your award and/or prizes you must either be present, have a proxy at the con to pick it up, or send SASE to the contest coordinator (you will be contacted in this case).
· You may submit entries to the following categories:
o Drama:
§ Videos in this category seek to evoke emotional responses from viewers by the successful combination of music, video, and editing which usually involves dramatic subject matter or dramatic elements from the anime.
o Upbeat
§ Music Videos in the upbeat category are uplifting and have a beat that one can groove to.
o Comedy
§ Whether parody or just wacky content, videos in this category can be pretty successful as long as someone thinks it’s funny.
o Romance
§ Videos here are much like drama, except they focus on the relationships between two people. The aww factor plays heavily in this category.
o Action
§ Videos will focus on action whether that is fighting sequences, motions of characters, or fast paced colorful imagery. The key word here is adrenaline.
o Staff
§ This category is a mixture of all the others, as staff are only allowed to enter in this category.
A friendly reminder that there are just 2 months left to procrastinate about submitting entries to Youmacon's contests.
Since apparently the due date was left off of the origional post, I'll give you all the benifit of the doubt and tell you that the date is - October 14th -
Of course, all entries must be in the hands of the contest coordinator by the end of this date. (i.e. you got till midnight on the 14th to submit your video(s) )
A small clarification of the rules, in case anyone is confused. The subtitle rule is basically pertaining to subtitles not created by yourself. Self inserted text into your video as long as it pertains to the video should be fine.
Also, there is only 6 weeks left until the deadline!!! Just a friendly FYI ^^
RULES AMMENDMENT PLEASE READ!!!!!
Ok everyone, since I am now in charge of sugoi-con's contest, and considering they are 1 week before Youmacon and the contest submission dates are the same for both cons I added the ability to submit to Sugoi-con's contest by selecting a check mark in the Youmacon entry form.
As such, to make things easier and because it really isn't needed, I have decided to throw out the requirement for a signature in the entry form. Instead there is a yes or no question you must answer.
If you have already submitted your video to the contest and submitted your entry form then no problem, I have your entry and you are set. If you have not submitted your signed entry form, I suggest you submit the entry form that is now up (fill it out and email it). All entry forms MUST be emailed, or the file that the form will save MUST be uploaded to the same directory as your AMV on the FTP server.
If you have questions or problems feel free to email amv@youmacon.com for assistance.
Another friendly reminder everyone. The contest deadline is October 14th, and that date is little under two weeks away. It's time to get your videos in of they are done and finish up the ones you are working on.
Remember you can submit 2 videos in the normal contest. And for you perverts you can submit as many as you want in the hentai contest!
The form doesn't require a signature anymore, all you have to do is submit it electronically via email (instructions given by acrobat on how to do this when you try)
A friendly reminder. The deadline is October 14th. You all have little over 1 week left to get videos into me for the contest.
This means, you have until the stroke of midnight on October 14th to get your videos to me. If your video is not in my hands or on our server by then you are out of luck. (I will allow people to submit their video via FTP right up to the last min. If you are still uploading the video when midnight hits, you will be allowed to continue and your video will not be DQ'ed for getting the video in late)
I may or may not extend the deadline on a video by video basis. You need to contact me BEFORE the deadline if you want me to give you an answer. I will not consider any deadline extentions if they are asked after the deadline.
Alright everyone. We are down to the WIRE. You have until Midnight Eastern time tonight to get your videos in. Please do NOT wait until the last minute in case there are any problems. If you are still uploading when the deadline arrives you will be allowed to finish however no one will be able to upload after that time.
If we have problems with your video there is time to correct those problems, so do not worry if you have not recieved a reply about your video yet. If you uploaded it to the FTP then it has been recieved. Make sure you submitted your entry form.
If you have problems with the FTP make sure to contact iceman.f1@gmail.com so that your problems can be fixed. For all other problems or questions reguarding the contest contact me via email at amv@youmacon.com or you can AIM me at WNGSRadio
