Sorry, someone left the sarcasm icons off.

Hell, if anyone should be pissed at being left out, it shoulda' been ME.

It's so ironic that Pro has a lot more in common with the Acadamy Awards then anyone think.. It's even getting just as political...

I starting to think people have lost thier way and the reason for making AMVs has been lost in all the digital editing...

Comeon people, it jus a fun hobby and a reason to share the stuff we enjoy making and something we all have in common... I always thought the fun of Pro is to see if we can guess who made what over which video is more superior...

Yes but and it was fun giving you one clue to go on (120+ hours spent) and have you guess virtually every video EXCEPT mine.

And what I got yours pretty much right away? ;p

But yes that is the best part of pro, the guessing games amongst friends. That and having some of the highest quality vids out there. Even if we complain, video to video awa has the highest quality contest.

And seriously, does it matter who is mentioned and not in a video that basically was designed as a gift to the fandom complete with silly inside jokes?

Ya, like no one could guess.

I thought the quality of the contest was very good. There wasn't a single video that made me want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon. AND I was represented by Astro Boy in the Developers video. :P So no complaints from me.

Firewall, Simple Wish, Undiscovered Countries, Lovers End and Ikasu were my personal favourites of the bunch. I also liked many of the bizarre comedy videos. Looking forward to next year already.

Illia Sadri wrote:What is love was another vid I wanted to like more. It has all the makings of a great dance vid. But using things like avatars from 4-chan is not always the best choice. Some seemed oddly proportioned or oversized to the point of being very noticable. Yet is had some absolutely awesome cuts in there.
The sprite avatars were okay, if they were in the right aspect ratio, but it's disappointing seeing some stuff where better quality can obviously be found elsewhere. (The Mr. Burns clip, off the top of my head, though that could be difficult to find)
Illia Sadri wrote:And on that note: What has happened to comedy over the year; not just here but cons in general?

Sephiroth wrote:There's a reason i suggest a best and for some reason the catagory suggestion was up but not the vote, which disapeared.
Best what? Your word got eaten.
Sephiroth wrote:As for comedy, i think there's a curtain stigma thats atached to the pro vid catagoery and comedy vids seem to be amaturish compared to some high concept drama vid.
So make a high concept comedy video.
anneke wrote:Well my video is listed in my profile now, so it's no secret. (shrugs) Figured since I didn't make the finals it didn't matter. But yes I made a 'comedy' video. I KNOW no one can have guessed I made the one I did.
Yours was one of the two videos I guessed as being done by you.

1. There were quality issues. It looked like you resized interlaced footage, which you've done before.
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... deo2.htm#2 (scroll down)

2. Rule #1 of making an unguessable Pro video: Don't tell people it's an unguessable Pro video.
anneke wrote:I fear that we will continue to see the short comedys things for awhile. People seem to think the most laughs in a video equals the best comedy video, so they cram as many jokes into a video as possiable, to keep people laughing, even if the video has no flow. I look at the overall video, and then reward on the pure genius of the video, vs if it just made me laugh.
Show me a 'comedy' video without 'jokes', and I will show you a 'fun' video.
I'm overgeneralising a little to build upon your statement. There was a 'comedy' video in one contest I judged that was so unfunny, I was ticked off that they hadn't entered it in upbeat since it would have done well there.
Beowulf wrote:Pro was a disgrace. By far the worst year I've seen. I was really dissapointed, as Pro is always a very interesting contest, but man it was just AWFUL.
Because you didn't enter.
Kristyrat wrote:For everyone bitching about the Developers video, there was absolutely no way the editor could have included everyone in it
Yes, because he only says "developers" 152 times in the song.

You made more than one video in the contest OMG FIX!!!
Illia Sadri wrote:Bottle Fairy does an interesting thing in that is parodizes blipverts.
Hell0 Fairy was a fucking travesty. A travesty that should be hailed for the anti-blipvert propaganda that it is. And by "hailed" of course I mean that it should have large chunks of ice thrown at it. Full of cliches and too long.

The developers video amused me though. ;)

Well, guess I'll spill the beans too. Mine was the Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien video, #26. I'm happy to hear that people liked it, since I wanted to branch out and do something more serious this time around. While I am a bit disappointed that it didn't make finals for Romance, I'm thankful for the Storytelling nod.

Actually, I had guessed that video might've been entered by Kham. :P
Good stuff.
