Yeah I was vid #38, and no this year no alcohol was involved in this video. Just a crippled knee and nothing better to do for most of the summer. I spent way too much time for my own good. And yes it is uber cheap and unartsy. Had too much fun making it to care.
And Walter, don't be a wuss and give yours up. I bet you anybody who has seen your earlier videos could easily id which is yours anyway.

Am I the only one that finds the comments about generally low quality terribly amusing, since we're the same people who entered those videos?
I don't see that drop in quality that some of you do. What I see is maybe a drop in variety instead. THey'ere not bad, but they start to blur together.
But a few more comments on specific videos:
I hadn't seen "Popularity" before, and when I did it was one of those things where you just smack yourself on the head and scream "why didn't I think of that?" So, between that reaction, and a general "I'm tired of AMV Hell clones," attitude, Popularity was one of the ones I nominated. But I didn't expect it to get far. I'm absolutely not an example to ANYONE in terms of technical skill. but in the spirit that I'm a better critic than I am an editor, I think pulling this one off would have really required more time: a lot of combing the series for the right clip, probably; some reframing and lighting effects, maybe; and micromanaging the lip sync for sure. I voted for it anyway, but I'd bet this one would do better in an attendee-vote setting where the people aren't as likely to judge on those things.
To be politically incorrect, I gotta wonder if some of the support for BTB isn't from people for whom it might as well be original because they wouldn't be caught dead saying anything nice about a Naruto video. Or less harshly, that "perhaps it seems fresher to some than others based on how often they've seen the similar Naruto vid."
The Madlax video falls under "guilty pleasure" for me.
And lastly, Anneke, you're right about one thing -- I never would have guessed that one was yours. Last year, yours was easy to guess, but not this time around. I was almost thinking the Saikano/Nickelback (which I rather liked, BTW, though no one else seemed to). But looking at yours, it matches exactly what I thinking earlier -- I wasn't thrilled it with, not because of anything you did or didn't do, but mostly because it doesn't hit my sense of humor.
OK, we're 'fessing up? I was, as Illia says, "Style over substance."

I did it because the song just tickled me so much. It was also a sort of 'comedy' video that I haven't seen any of. I'm hoping that maybe other people will reach out and try using 'music' that I would call 'Radio drama'. The music really reminded me of the old radio show days, sound effects and everything.
