Pro was a disgrace. By far the worst year I've seen. I was really dissapointed, as Pro is always a very interesting contest, but man it was just AWFUL.

Out of 50 something videos there was, what, two? three good ones?

ITS ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE PEOPLE. TRY SOMETHING NEW. ITS QUITE SAD WHEN THE BEST VIDEO IN THE ENTIRE CONTEST WAS DONE A YEAR AGO AND USED NARUTO INSTEAD OF BLEACH.

For everyone bitching about the Developers video, there was absolutely no way the editor could have included everyone in it, I would think something like that is painfully obvious. There's really only two options when someone is faced with that, he could've extended the song to include everyone, and of course, I'm sure all of you would be happy to sit through a video pushing several hours :?
On the other hand, they could cut some editors, which is inevitably what happened, get over it, you weren't there, and complaining about it isn't going to get the creator to make a video for you, if anything, he'd be less inclined to do so. So really, if you don't have any real criticism besides 'I wasn't in it! ' sit down, and shut up.

Well, they could've chosen some more well-known editors. I mean, like, who the hell is Nancy? That should've been Vlad.

kisanzi wrote:Well, this was my first year entering AWA Pro and it was entertaining. It was interesting to watch a contest without the mass audience of a con and it really gave each vid the full attention that they all deserved. It also showed me the harsh reality that you can't sit down and watch 50 AMVs consisting of mostly drama in one night. :P

I was suprised by some vids:

-Firewall and Undiscovered Countries really stood out as "outside-the-box" ideas and showed alot of creativity.

-The Full Metal Panic drama vid was an awesome suprise. I've been waiting to find a solid dramatic video to FMP that didn't focus all on the mechs, so kudos to the creator.

-Comedy: It's a dying breed.

-BTB totally hypnotized me with the wealth of awesome effects, but I kinda saw that coming. I'm still not too sure how it showed up in "best artistic".

-The contest as a whole was solid. Some vids stood out more than others in craft but alot of the vids showed some good ideas and concepts even if they needed a bit more work.

Things I was dissappointred in:

-Not one real dance video. Sure "what is love" had dancing but it was more upbeat/fun. I was really hoping to see a shiny, fast video set to some speedy techno. Oh well...maybe next year...when I make mine.

Anyways, I enjoyed watching the vids and getting to see some AMVs that I wouldn't have normally stumbled across. Great work to all who entered and I look forward to seeing the winners announced at AWA next week. And I hope the creators get their vids posted soon after...I really want to know who made some of them.

Maybe i'm mistaken, but wasn't Pro voting closed as of yesterday?

You techno Dance Vid? Never ....
HAPPY HARDCORE PLEESE (It is my request)

While I do regret not making a comedy entry for Pro this year, I was simply burnt out on comedy. Even I need something serious once in a while. :P

I'll agree with the overall quality being better this year, though there were fewer real standout videos. I really dug the Tsukihime video, the Texhnolyze one, and the Utena/Hendrix vid, along with the unexpected Sympathy for Lady Vengeance entry. Oh, and Gay Bar. It totally had my nomination for Best Sentimental.

While the animated .gif video was funny, I wouldn't go so far as to say it's Best Dance material. The novelty kinda wears off after a bit.

Other than that, I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said. I was expecting a bit more from Pro this year, now that Master's is gone and all, but it still wasn't bad. I'll be looking forward to next year as well.

I didn't make the finals with my video, which made me sad as well. :( And I made a Non-AMV-Hell type comedy video even. I should have put more work into the video, but what ever.

Yes, that video really sucked as I was not even mentioned... The creator just hates us :P
