What I would most like is for the 'link' to visually be different then more recent videos. So instead of links being: 'Direct', 'Indirect', 'No', there would also be an option for 'Retired', which could be Direct or Indirect or one option of each. 'Retired Direct', and 'Retired Indirect'. I just get sick of a video that is 5+ years old getting a review where the person says it's crap. Uh...it's 5+ years old, and back then it was pretty good, no duh that now it's concered crap. (Shrugs). I could always removed the video/files, but that seems abit counter productive for what the site is.

And maybe in the future this could help with Video storage, because if a video is 'retired' it would then be on a slower server or such. Just an idea for the future.

this is an opiniotive thing. IMO it doesn't bug me. I'm just as happy to get ops on my oldest video as my newest video.... coarse maybe I'd change my mind if it was a VERY specific LOOOOOONG op. But I hate those even if it's on my most recent video.

But I do think your on to something. For instance, Kevin Caldwell (Proxy) has 400+ ops for Engle. Will he EVER see those??? I don't think so. I vote that known retired CREATOR's videos be treated that way.

I just thought of something. (You know how things will percolate in the back of your head for no reason at all...)

It would probably be complicated on the back end, but simple on the front end and take care of a few scenarios. How about opting out of feedback on a per-video basis? No QCs, no opinions, no stars, and no shot at the top 100 list, which is the tradeoff for not opening yourself up to commentary. So it's like a non-competing entry.

As it is, you can already opt out of QCs and stars by hosting your own videos, but going the extra mile would settle the whole deal for people who are freaked out over opinions for whatever reason. There are still allllllllllllll the other channels for feedback open, for the tenacious viewers - PMs, email, IMs, IRC, etc. - but it takes the most obvious option out of people's faces.

I don't know whether the Powers that Be have an ideological objection to that. I personally wouldn't use it, because I don't get a lot of feedback anyway and take brainless feedback with a grain of salt, but I know a bunch of people care very very deeply about not getting feedback.

Well I figured a new 'category' for the links options would be good. People do searches for what is directly downloadable, and they grab those first, then they go to the indirect, but only if they really want something. If something says 'no' they obviouslly won't even click on it. If the link said 'Retired' they would atleast know that going to the video it is old. But people would download them about the same as 'indirect'. Only if they really feel like it.

Maybe. But newbies are already really confused over the options that we have now, according to the questions on the board. *shrug*
