Genericon - Feedback Needed

Post by ChronoWraith » Wed Sep 06, 2006 7:13 pm

Ok I am a freshman at RPI and have just joined the Genericon planning committee. I have asked for there to be an AMV contest and I have gotten the go-ahead to test the waters for interest as well as to write up a set of guidelines, get judges, etc. Now, what I need is this:

I need to be able to contact someone who has organized an AMV contest for a con before.

I need to know whether or not people would submit videos.

So please, I need feedback on this, and soon. The con isn't too far away, and I need to get started with other activities.

thanks.

We're near your neck of the woods (Great Barrington, MA) and I got us enough entries for an hour-long contest. You can IM me for advice on running things, but I definitely won't be able to help you run it...

Heh, they're actually letting you do that? While and after I was at RPI (class of '01), my roommate (both at RPI and now) tried to get them to do AMV stuff, but they wouldn't even acknowledge his presence. Some random guy did an AMV panel, I think, but that's about it.

I'm still local, up Hoosick by Plum Blossom. I might be willing to help with AMV-related stuff at Genericon, depending on my schedule. (January should be okay for me.)

I've done AMV contest-type-stuff before. Was going to run a contest at a recent WorldCon, but timing and con politics kept it from happening.
