Cowboy Bebop: R3 vs. R1

R3 discs: ~77GBP YesAsia have it that price, but there's more info on the linked page.

R1 discs bought individually from DVD Pacific: ~60GBP

The question here is -- is the R1 release (original or Remix; they're the same price) of sufficient visual quality that I can skip over the R3s? What's the telecine job like and are the specific problems in the source (if any) fixable? I've gotten stung once with the Trigun tins (starts out force-filmable and with only light film noise, ends up being more irritating than old Eva), so I'd like some footage that doesn't suck.
