There's an inane amount of ridiculous threads being both generated and locked. There's nothing productive to the site in this section, and obviously that was made clear the minute "Off-Topic" was killed. People are becoming bullshit artists in the way of making shitty surveys to make it look like this section still serves a purpose. So, gather round GENERAL AMV, and convince me that this section has any innate value at all.
And don't bother trying to call me on the fact that this is ironically a bullshit survey.
Why is General AMV still around?

I thought that was the purpose of this sub forum... that and a place for noobs to post before reading anything so the sub-forums with a clearly defined purpose don't become too cluttered with the pointless shit.

Like, OMG!!!! This is, like, such a bullshit survey! WTF!!!!
lol. j/k. Well, it does, in its own way, serve its purpose. I mean for those looking for old amvs that aren't available anymore and the stuff related to amvs that don't fit into other topics, (though there are topics for just about everything, but in those rare occasions.) But yes, it does seem this topic is more prone to spam and things being put in the wrong spot, probably more than the other topics simply because its the first one and the lazy people/noobs don't feel like scrolling past it. So they just post in the first place they can. If anything other topic was at the top, it too would be just as prone to spam and misplacement. I also think the word "General" at the beginning helps in my theory. They see the word "general", don't read past it, and immediately think it is the topic for everything. Or people are just illiterate.

The reason General AMV is still around, is so that noobs can post things in here that belong in other forum sections (video softwear, etc) THEN the mods can put in the right category, right? -_-;
And also because The Commander was killed and the General now leads the AMV army. Or maybe just so requiett can post threads like this. Who really knows, but more importantly, ask yourself ...
WHO CARES?!?!

I'm all for a place to discuss things pertinent to the AMV community (replace General AMV with an AMV Community/Chat category?). Nothing wrong with some frivolous discussion if we have a board designated for it, IMO. I hate chatrooms, but chats in a longer-term medium are nice.

Occasionally, a thread comes up in General AMV to discuss editing techniques, which is nice (although those threads belong in the general video forum) and the part about finding older videos, like wurpess said. But I know I won't convince requiett anyways, so why did I even type this?
requiett reminds me of Jostein Gaarder's Day of the Joker. Always stirring up trouble for the poor little suits...

Sure, you could subcategorize everything to death but why bother?
You'd have a section for "I'm looking for a copy of blah blah does anybody have it" and a section for all the other things that generally come up (and get locked). This just simplifies things. The analogy would be having three mod box sections one for bad video uploads, one for spam threads and one for complaining about threads.
Having you complain about BS when you're the spam-meister is, however, kind of ironic.
