I've only seen the trailer and I'm already scared.

Its only gory during the first five minutes of the show. Then it calms down until episode 4, but that only lasted for a short while. After that, there are only about 10 people who get decapitated, about 20 - 30 are disembowled, Two are blown up, one is poked in the brain and one is shot a couple hundred times.

For thirteen episodes, that isn't TOO bad.

Overall, I think the show was great. I had no problem with the ending. I felt it justified the show and all.

And the OVA is a continuation of episode 10. Mostly just Nana hearing about an even in Lucy's past following what happened on the train. (Those who saw the show know what I'm talking about here.) It ends with Mayu giving Nana the job of feeding the dog (forget his name).

If you want to check out your tolerance, DL this video. It's not the best, but Its the one that turned me on to Elfen Lied

It does contain spoilers, but you shouldn't understand them until you've watched the series. Most of the video consists of only one and a half episodes from the series and several characters and side stories are omitted. I suggest not watching past 1:55 to avoid the main spoilers.

The level of blood in this rivals Berserk. Seriously, you'll think the red on your screen went into overload at times. It is worth watching, but it's definately full of death(lots), dismemberment(the usual method of death), nudity (lots of that), animal cruelty, people cruelty, and someone steals candy from a baby.

Or, to put it another way, most elfen lied videos should be considered too gratuitiously violent for this site, and thus are hosted off site.

Other than that, it's a cute show with a fun romantic bent.

Number 35/Mariko is director Kuramas biological daughter and Mayu is some kind of "adoptive child", well Mayu made it up in her mind that Kuruma is her father so that she could bear up against the pain from all the experiments she had to go through.

The reason why Mariko has more vectors than Lucy and any other Diclonius is because she`s an 3rd generation Diclonius and therefor "stronger" than Lucy.

Oy! Elfen Lied's probably somewhere on my top 10 list (can't seem to think it up right now :? ) Yep, the anime's ending hella pissed me off, as did the godawful dubbing. I've started a long process of downloading translations of the manga, so hopefully I'll find a better ending before too long. PS, anyone know where I can get the full extended version of Lilium in mp3 format? I have it in ogg but i'm without a converter.

You mean Nana, not Mayu. Nana = 7 in Japanese, remember?

I don't think there is a vector count in the manga. Lucy has way more than 4 vectors in the manga, and they don't necessarily come out of her back.
