I, too, really like Saiyuki.
At first i was confused at what the manga was talking about, cause i saw the series of "The Journey to the West" on TVB and i sort of recognized the characters, so it was a bit of a shock when the priest turned out to be a gunslinging, alcoholic and smoking guy, the Water Demon a guy who can't keep his hormones in check, etc. But all in all it was pretty cool.
I found the VCD box set for Saiyuki Reload....i think it was that series....not sure, but the thing is, they didn't dub it. I know, i know, some dubs aren't always on par, but they don't even have the bloody subtitles!!!! So, i was watching it like...I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!!!
But sometimes, you just get it.... most of the times....you don't *hangs head in shame*
Does anyone know where i can get English dubs of Saiyuki??? any series will do.....^_^;

Yes. The first series (Saiyuki, plain) is super-cheap in some places, too. They rereleased it in "Double Barrel" sets - discs 1 and 2, discs 3 and 4, etc. - and, for instance, Best Buy tends to carry them for $11.99, or on their website $17.99. Still not bad for two discs. ADV also holds sales on their website at every conceivable holiday, and though they tend not to put the Double Barrel releases on sale, they do have random singles and Requiem in the sales most of the time.paizuri wrote:FYI, ADV has put out the original Saiyuki series in Region 1 and Geneon has released out Saiyuki Reloaded and Gunlock. It's also on Netflix, which is where I saw it originally. (plug. woot.)
paizuri mentioned the other two, and thus far Gaiden hasn't been animated anyway. Requiem is out via ADV. I don't know about the other movie.
For the record, Hakkai. Disturbing character handled in an interesting way. Lots of conflicting sides - schoolteacher, mass murderer, healer, youkai, youkai slayer, on and on and on.

Hey, does anybody know just how many manga there is for Saiyuki? I know they are nine for Saiyuki but that story included the parts from the main villain stories from Saiyuki Reload. So, I was kinda wondering what the Saiyuki Reload and Sayuki Reload Gunlock manga is going to be like and how many there're going to be...Does this whole thing makes sense to anybody?

Saiyuki, main series, 9 volumes, finished.
Saiyuki Reload, 7 volumes so far, still running.
Saiyuki Gaiden, 2 volumes so far, still running.
According to Wikipedia, Gunlock (animated) is based on part of Reload (manga).

Ah...I see. What you guys got Gaiden?? What's it like? Is it as good as the others? I haven't seen the Gaiden ones yet...curiousity has rocketed sky high.
Um...let me see...personally, I like the manga version better because it explains certain things that anime version just don't. And, some episodes and story in the anime gets a little fuzzy (as in it doesn't explain it well on how it got there...well, that what I find anyway...but there's not many of those). Well, I live like on the bottom of the globe so anime is always slowest getting to us however, if we've got all nine already there should be around where you live. I'll say visit the comic store where they sell manga and if they don't have that volume request a list from store person. Normally, they have a list where you can get the manga you want ordered in. That's what I do.
