Well this is my first post/topic on the forums. And this is my first announcement, even though I've done quite a few AMVs before this (a lot that I just didn't put up).
Anyway, I've just finished a Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien music video using the Song "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5. It's been in the making for a long time, and on a personal level it means a lot to me. You can read my insanely long comments about this video on the actual page. I can easily say this is my best work, so please go check it out, and leave me a comment or two if you like it.....or even if you don't.
Any and all comments are appreciated. Thanks!

- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

You failed at effects(well the cropping anyways) and the visual quality.
You've succeed at nice mood synch and concept.
This doesn't apply to every video and doesn't always matter too much but the visual quality did take away quite a bit from this video. With a calm peaceful flow you just cant help but notice the quality issues and it takes away from the gentle feel of the video. And also the cropping was very annoying. At the very end when you took two scenes and put them together that was fine though but all the other cropping you did I did not enjoy. Also some transitions didn't work that well either.. some fades went by too fast and some didn't fit.
Maybe don't use effects just for the sake of using effects, I don't know what your intentions with the effects and what you thought they may have added to the video, but they were not needed imo and the execution wasn't that well.
Even though the effects and visual quality are bothersome I enjoy just about every other aspect of the video.. So I guess I will keep it. Anyway except for a few details I thought this was a pretty nice video.

I definitely understand the gripes with the cropping and the visual quality. The cropping was a cheap (extremely) effect and I guess it didn't go over to well with you.
The quality was a bit of a disappointment for me too. All my other videos are much better quality, but the long development time for this video forced me to re-encode many scenes and so there was a severe quality loss. But at least I brought the size down from my other videos.
Thank you for your comments. I can appreciate your complaints (because they are my own aswell) and I'm also happy you enjoyed the video.

I enjoyed it. It definitely spoke to me I didn't mind so much the cropping (which in general, I thought was fine), but some of your other effects just confused me. I'm not clear on what your message might have been in using them. The biggest culprit is that "old film" footage which just confused me. You didn't use "younger" scenes, so it didn't play off like a flashback. I guess it could be the narrator's memory, but that doesn't sit well with me. In addition, you repeated footage for this (and other) effects, which just seemed weak.
Most importantly, you have emotional impact, and while muddled by confusing effects and video quality, it is by no means lost, or even really diminished.
KGNE seems to be garnering a lot of vids lately, but I saw it some time ago. Hmm...

I'm curious, why didn't you use lossless codecs until the final version?mysticdragula wrote:All my other videos are much better quality, but the long development time for this video forced me to re-encode many scenes and so there was a severe quality loss. Definitely got the concept down. I enjoyed it, despite the fact that I hate the song used.
Trying to get in before Funimation releases the DVDs domestically and lowers its novelty factor, perhaps. Heck, even I've got a couple of videos in queue (although I doubt that I'll have done them come December).Kionon wrote:KGNE seems to be garnering a lot of vids lately, but I saw it some time ago.
