Nice mood video with very well-done internal / beat synch, but I know nothing about KOR (except what you wrote in the spoiler box) so I can't really appreciate the editing. As I see it, it's kind of an odd video because the instrumental sections are edited so differently to the rest of the vid, and I don't get the significance of the 'photo' effect or the back-and-forth shots around the two-minute mark.
...I swear I deened and all sorts of other nice stuff.
frfun7 and hqdn3d are pretty good for anime, if you haven't tried them already.

Yep, all require a working knowledge of the series to get. The instrumental section of the song didn't speak to me the way the lyrics did, so I decided the only way to match them was to include rocking out scenes from the TV series that at least tied in with the musical nature of KOR. Madoka herself is a composer, plays several instruments, and she sings. Her parents are both members of the New York Philharmonic. Her father is an American, and if I recall correctly, eventually becomes the Philharmonic's conductor (see Message in Rouge from the OAV series).

The photo effect is really important because just like Madoka follows her parents into music, Kyosuke follows his father into photography, and photography plays a large role in the series. Most KOR fans (such as Willen) will immediately recognize this.

The back and forth shots at the two-minute-mark, again, requires knowledge of what is going on in the scene shown. This is the beginning of the movie, which is really the start of "some other beginning's end." The reasoning behind the movement is to show the way Kyosuke keeps doing a double take and the pressure between being pulled to his past with Hikaru and being pulled to his future with Madoka.

This is not a video that non-KOR fans can really appreciate, and I understand that. But I had to go with the vision in my head.

Oh, that girl was Hikaru? She didn't look familiar in that shot.

Fair enough. Some ideas just need te be executed in a certain way, and if that way isn't friendly to some viewers... well, that's the way it goes.

No, it wasn't. But in that scene, the girl he's looking at says the same thing to the guy she's talking with that Hikaru said to Kyosuke a year before. So he does a double take and kind of freaks out, and the entire movie from that point on is a flashback.

That's basically it. I had this storyboarded (the lyrical synchs) back in 2002. I absolutely knew what scenes I had to use, and it was only the aural instrumental synch that was kind of an add on during the actual editing process.

i loved how rather than editing many scenes you captured the emotion of each one. still, a bit faster pace would have been better for my taste.
except for that i liked watching this video. too bad there seems to be little selection of AMVs for this anime but at least the little that are tend to be good :P

Seems to be the general consensus. The movie itself is painfully slow.

This is one of the reasons that I haven't started on my Hikaru AMV yet. That, and the fact that I need to watch KOR for Hikaru scenes. That girl is like caffiene and sugar with short hair - you can take only so much before you feel sick.

KOR: It's not a truck.

btw, the final "fixed" version does sound better with AAC audio. Less "swooshy-ness" in the audio.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image
