Sending Freedom (Finally Released)

Post by genestarwind21122 » Mon Jun 19, 2006 8:53 pm

Well finally after 6 months of editing. I finally finished my newest amv called Sending Freedom. This amv I have to say I really enjoyed working on it. This is my 2nd amv using Photoshop. Another thing is I found out I really enjoy editing action amv's even though I originally thought it was not my style. This amv was more time consuming than I thought it would be. However I am pleased with the way the amv has turned out and I hope you guys enjoy it.

This amv here is showing the heroes of anime fighting against evil. While at the same time putting other things into question. This video has action, drama, some upbeat to it, and a few scenes where it shows some romance. Here are the animes I used in this amv:

Slayers
Slayers Net
Slayers Try
Gundam Seed
Escaflowne
InuYasha
S-cryed

Artist: Master Plan
Song: Heroes

Here is the link for the video or you can click down in my sig on the banner:

Wow, awesome scene selection and energy! I enjoyed it very much, especially the guitar part towards the middle. The song is defeniately a plus as well. It got the blood pumping in me throughout the video. So much powerfulness... Me likes~! Although I felt the lipsynch was not necessary, it still worked out in a nice way as well.

Awesome job. Gotta leave an opinion for this sometime. But why did I feel there was more inuyasha footage than the rest? (is not a fan of inuyasha :P )

A good effort in the action department. It didn't fully capture my eye but it was still a good watch from start to finish. Nice work!

I'm glad you thought the video was good from start to finish.

The instrumental part in the middle did take some time to do for I wanted to flow nicely from one anime to another and not seem random. So that's why I went with the close up shot of Kazuma and then Inu Yasha close up to the sword slashing. I'm glad you thought the lipsync worked out well even though you thought that it was not necessary. The lipsync I felt that if I put ordinary scenes in there it would look to plain and boring, so the lipsync I thought added the heroic feel and made the video look better overall. That's just from my perspective and why I did it.

Keep the feedback coming... I hope the rest of you enjoy it.

OK, brace yourself. The praise parade is about to run into a little rain.

First off, where did you learn to encode? This video is way too large for 360 by 240. 80 meg? 20 meg would be more reasonable. I'm going to guess that you didn't clean your video much and set constant quants to 1 or something.

Second, aspect ratios. You're supposed to correct them. Nothing looked right in this video. Everything's still in it's native fresh-off-the-DVD AR. Complete with junk along the sides of the frames, too.

Third, this video felt rather random. I got a sense of a vague theme, but not much more. A few bits made more sense if I take my background anime knowledge into consideration, but I shouldn't be required to do that to make sense of a video.

Fourth, lip synch. I think it really hurt this video. Not only did it feel horribly forced, but it also screwed up the pace. This is a high-energy song that demands a high-energy editing pace, which to be fair you mostly managed. The lip synch, however, threw this all for a loop.

Fifth, masking. Some of it worked. Some of it made it impossible to tell what I was looking at.

On the bright side: your timing, for the most part, was excellent. Just work on the coherency, effects use, and really work on the technical side.
