i like both sites too.

youtube lets me not have to worry about broken links/files/codecs and not having to go into my hard drive to delete the vid if i don't like it. a-m-v.org lets me collect good quality versions of the vids i like.

with regards to sharing my videos, i really don't place as much importance on video quality as i do on having the videos watched, but that's something that sets me apart (not necessarily a good way) from many others here - i don't see AMVs strictly as an artistic effort abiding by pre-established standards of quality, but rather as an entertainment medium with possibility for artistic expression.

I never saw the point in sticking to just one distribution point myself.

I usually upload to Google Video, the servers here, host it on my own Apache webserver (from a residential DSL...bandwidth goes ouchies), upload it to as many torrent trackers as possible, and also to friends' FTP servers.

The way I see it, the more sites that host my work, the better the chances of getting it viewed.

In addition, I have videos that don't conform to the draconian rules in place here (e.g. percentage of in-game footage vs. FMV), so it's good to have alternatives.

Fact of the matter is that this is not the only, nor the best (which is entirely subjective ANYWAY) video hosting site out there. Word-filtering to eliminate competition is at worst juvenile and at best ineffective, but whatever bakes your cake. Honestly, I'm not losing sleep over it so long as I have E-mail to tell people about all the sites I know of (relax, this one included).

i dont think its a competition thing, i think its more the fact that we have had several threads of people complaining about that site that the admins are sick of hearing about it so they screw with it...

most of the forum regulars are smart enough to know how to get around the filters, OR when they click a link they can change the part of the url they need so really it doesnt matter what they filter it to...

Anyway, CelticWhisper, the rules here are far from draconian. You see, AnimeMusicVideos.org is, unlike hosatchel and Google Video, a narrow-purpose video site. With certain types of videos allowed, and everything else not, of course some people are going to take your rather deluded position and decide that our rules are draconian.

At least we aren't trying to profit from your work. I can't say the same for hosatchel and Google Video.

Oh, and for the record, the word-filtering isn't to deal with "competition". You'd have a very, very hard time trying to replace the Org with hosatchel. I'd go so far as to say it's not possible, as both sites stand. Just don't ask me to explain it, because I can't claim that I fully understand the reasoning myself.

I'm actually thinking of taking several of my vids off of there because of the legality issues i keep hearing that its having with even its non-anime and non-fanvid videos... I've heard (though from possibly unreliable sources) that little girls lipsyncing are getting the RIAA on their butts... WTF is with them going after kids all the time?

i also dont like all the "ass-kissing" that goes on there... aparently the most crappy videos will get about a half a dozen (or more) comments about how good they are... I'm sure this happens on the org as well... but people there like to turn things into flame wars... and abuse the "rating system" because of it, doesnt seem to happen AS OFTEN here... or atleast its not as public, and if it does happen here there are mods that can fix stuff for you.

hosatchel is almost completely unmoderated... if you go to a report anything at the tube, im sure your videos will be deleted as well for coppywrite infringement... (or so i fear... O.o)

i dont believe in the hosatchel rating system, it has to be even more bull than the star rating here... (most of them are higher on the tube btw)

too many requests to see certain body parts on me... i dont make video blogs for the pervs that just want to fap fap fap.... if they want that then they can stop wasting their time and find someone who is willing to shove their ass in the camera... I make my vblogs for my friends.

I've never recieved a comment on any of my vids here that told me/the public to go to some site and do serveys to make money... I have recieved those at the tube : P

im really kinda tired of the attention whores there that spam their videos out... i guess i never felt the need to do something like that...

if youre actually into the "video blogging" then its one huge soap opera (one i dont plan on taking a part of... i thought of making a video that mentions some of the "hosatchel celeberties" as they are called, but then i realized if i did then that would mean i would be dragged into their drama, and thats the last thing i want... it really is like one huge soap : P)
