The letter boxing isn't random at all. I copied a method seen in some music videos when the song was done or featured in a movie. So you see the band doing the song mixed with clips from the movie their song was featured in, often letterboxed. The scenes of Bad Luck actually 'performing' the song are 4:3 but the scenes 'taken from Gravitation' are 16:9. It's supposed to be as if Bad Luck is doing a song that they did for the series Gravitation. ^_^;

I immediately wondered why the opening scene was letterboxed until the performance scenes. Then it clicked that the fullscreen parts were the "concert/music video" parts and the letterboxed parts the "story/movie" parts. That's why I never even commented on the lip-flap. It's supposed to be there in those scenes, like in your typical MTV video.DJ_Izumi wrote:The letter boxing isn't random at all. I actually think that the remix fit this video and the band better, although since I've never seen Graviation or heard the music that they actually play in the anime, I'm probably not one to really make that call. Music-wise, I personally prefer the original version too.SarahtheBoring wrote:...but more importantly, I want to find whoever made that rave-infested remix and beat them with a crowbar. Euuugh. Uhm... That IS the original version of the song. The rock version came after and both were done by Republica. The dance version is even what Republica used for the offical music video. ^_^;SarahtheBoring wrote:I want to find whoever made that rave-infested remix and beat them with a crowbar. Euuugh. Ew. I stand corrected on the remix point, but I still...ew. The remake was a vast improvement, then. Late-'90s dance music didn't age all that well.DJ_Izumi wrote:Uhm... Great, you made me dig up the only Republica CD I own which is the CD single. The reason why I thought it was a remix is because subconciously I recognized that this version is different than the one I have. Which goes to explain the discrepancy on the insert of the CD I own.DJ_Izumi wrote:Uhm... That IS the original version of the song. The rock version came after and both were done by Republica. Original Version - 4:16 (according to DJ_Izumi's AMV)
What I own (Republica - Ready to Go - CD5" Single - RCA 07863 64540-2):
Track 1: Single Version - 3:39 (aka. Rock Version)
Track 2: Original Mix - 3:33 (the CD insert says 4:06 which I suppose is the runtime of the actual original version, but the version I have is apparently an edit with a runtime of 3:33)
Somehow, 10 years later, I hear the full version for the first time and my memories tell me that this song is going longer than I remember it. So I assume it's a remixed version. I even forgot that the rock version wasn't the original. Forgive me for my confusion, IT'S BEEN ABOUT 10 YEARS SINCE I LAST PLAYED THIS CD!

So to correct myself...
I bought this CD 10 years ago because I like this song and at the time, I thought (and actually still do think) that the physical CD is cool (it's actually called a [url=http://www.denondigital.com/PDF1204/Coo ... 046-02.pdf]COOL DISCWillen wrote:Music-wise, I personally prefer the "rock" version too.
