you're exactly right...cause my favorite songs on aenema are stinkfist, eulogy, and h. which are sooo short....Zerophite wrote:Temjin - the best album by Tool is not Aenima, and is indeed Lateralus. People usually hate it because the songs are "too long" and they aren't as "hardcore" because they don't swear in any of the songs. They also use alternate time signatures, which people tend to hate. Gotta love live TOOL shows as well, the line up is all from Lateralus *laughs* except maybe a couple songs.
My favorite album has to be "Twoism" by Boards of Canada
i dont fear long songs. and lateralus is a great cd, but it doesnt have the amount of good songs on it that aenema does. plus, its got the first of the manback messages

i tend to like lateralus for its smoother deeper tunes
although i love aenima< dont get me wrong, that is my 2nd favourite album, ive started growing away from the violent tool to the philosophical tool that is in lateralus

Taking out best-ofs/compilations...
1. U2 - Achtung Baby
2. The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
3. Morcheeba - Big Calm
4. Pink Floyd - The Wall
5. Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion (more cohesive than Violator, I have to admit, though I prefer Violator's mood to SF&D's, SF&D's sound is more interesting and its lyrics are generally better)
6. REM - Automatic for the People
7. They Might Be Giants - Apollo 18
8. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
9. Barenaked Ladies - Maroon
10. Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X
I am so unhardcore that it hurts.
