Otakon 2006: Iron Editor Battle Royale

In the beginning, the Iron Editor department prided itself on it's organized, structured tournament of champions. However the youth of today have little disregard for rules. The competition was plagued by no-shows and last minute stand-ins. The basic structure of the tournament fell into disarray.

These delinquencies must not go unpunished.

And so the administration devised a plan to teach these ruffians a lesson.

The Iron Editor: Battle Royale.

- The event will take place at Otakon 2006, at a time that will be decided sometime in the near future.
- The competitors are as follows:
--- VegettoEX and MeriC (as a team)
--- Bogosort
--- AtomX
- That's right. 3 competitors.
- Each competitor will have 2 hours to create a music video fitting the following theme:
--- Action Movie Trailer
- Each competitor will be given 5 video sources, in their entirety (as they appear on the DVD), as well as 1 secret ingredient. The competitors must use at least 3 of the given sources, plus the secret ingredient.
--- "Use" is defined as "at least 1 second of footage, visible in the video".

- The animes are as follows:
--- Kiddy Grade 13-15
--- Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
--- Chrono Crusade 1-5
--- Loveless 1-5
--- Wolf's Rain 24-26
--- Plus a secret ingredient of awesome proportions!

- The final video must be longer than 1 minute. If youre trailer audio is shorter than that, send it to us first, and an exception might be made. No exceptions will be made the day of the competition.
- All contestants will be editing on matching machines. They will have Adobe Premiere 6.5, Adobe Photoshop CS2, and virtualdub at their disposal.
- The contestants must bring their own audio in .wav format to the contest. Contestants can send in their audio early.
--- The theme is "action movie trailer" and thus, movie trailer audio is perfectly acceptable. Songs are perfectly fine too, so long as they fit the theme.
--- The contestants are more than welcome to, in fact, encouraged to cut their audio prior to arriving at the contest.
- The final video need not be rendered when time is up. When time is called, assistants will render whatever is on the Premiere timeline. No further editing can take place once time is called.

- Videos will be judged and rated using the following credentials:
--- Technique, style, pace, creativity, adherance to theme, use of secret ingredient, quality, and replayability.

- Two winners will be chosen to go on to the FINALS at AWA 2006. The loser will get made fun of later in private.

- As usual there will be entertainment, games, and general mockery going on during the editing.

There are more surprises on the way, but don't expect them to be announced before the event. You'll just have to show up!

.... what.

Is this punishment for last year?................ Pay no attention to my avatar.........

Actually nah, it sounds like a blast. My only request though is that the room be set up a bit nicer than last year. Can we have the competitors have their own areas at the front of the room instead of just on the end of a random table in the middle of the room?

In that event, how about securing a room that isn't normally used for workshops, thusly eliminating half of the seating capacity by placing a table every other row. I understand that this might not be completely in your guys' hands, but as long as I know you're trying for something better, I'm cool.

Also, is AWA now just going to be a 2-way battle against the 2 Otakon winners? Or will it be a 3-way battle with the Otakon winners and Liz (winner from ACen)?

I still think there needs to be a way worked in that Hsien has to do another Iron Editor.

He thought he was out. He thought he was free. He was WRONG!

Yeah, I can attest to that assertion...

VicBond's word is law. VicBond is always right. I will listen to VicBond. I will not ignore VicBond's recommendations. VicBond is God. And, if this ever happens again, VicBond will personally rip your lungs out.
