MAC not playing AMV sound...help?

Post by delirium_sj » Sat Apr 15, 2006 12:10 pm

I finished an AMV recently on my Windows PC. My brother just downloaded it onto his Mac and says there's no sound. I know he's just probably missing a codec or something but I don't know what.

The music on the AMV is in MP3 format.
My compression history for it is from CD to WAV to MP3

The video part plays fine I guess, but I compressed that first with Lagarith then finally with XVID on the DX50 setting to be compatible with DivX.

Any suggestions on what he might need?

Well, if he can see the video, then that's obviously not the problem. And since it's just the audio that's missing, that'll be the first thing he'll need to check. I don't know much about playing MP3's on Mac, but ask if he can play other MP3's? It sounds like you did everything right, so he probably just needs a codec, like you mentioned. I just Googled MP3 codecs for Mac, and came up with this site, among others. Looks like a Lame plugin for Quicktime. Don't know if this'll help or not, but good luck.

Divx Doctor might do the trick. Tends to fix these kind of audio problems.
