That was kind of the point, to show people who are newer to this site what it used to be like.amvwizard wrote:omg this is before my time

Somewhat before my time, but I remember those forums. They switched over not long after I got here. I posted some severely newbish ideas before I made any myself, and people actually didn't flame my ass off, even though I totally deserved it.
Funny thing is, in the real world 2001 was not that long ago. I was 24. It's not like it was before we were all born. (OK, some of you, maybe, but...)
Lol internet. ;P

I'm pretty sure all the Phorum tables are intact in the database....LantisEscudo wrote:I don't remember if I ever posted anything there; does anyone know if the data was saved when Phorum got dropped in favor of PHPbb?

Hmm, can't say I don't remember that particular layout, but I was still checking this place out in 2001-2002 (I recall you didn't need to be a member to download, or maybe because I just downloaded everything Directly) I can vagely remember the search page, but yeah, that was quite a long time ago.
It seemed like everything back then was direct, not local.

That's because the local server didn't go up until like March 2003...before that people were entirely on their own. It's only been a little over 3 years, it just feels like forever.Cornwiggle wrote:Hmm, can't say I don't remember that particular layout, but I was still checking this place out in 2001-2002 (I recall you didn't need to be a member to download, or maybe because I just downloaded everything Directly) I can vagely remember the search page, but yeah, that was quite a long time ago.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Yes, and that's why so many people didn't join until then. If I remember right, the biggest reason to join was either because you had an AMV to post or you were in the forums. And then there were people like me, who didn't make anything and didn't post on the forums, and had no real reason to join. I've actually been lurking around here since 2001 (when I was still in high school), but I didn't join until 2 years later.Kai Stromler wrote:That's because the local server didn't go up until like March 2003...
Now I feel really old...
Yeah, the AMV thesis....that was me.
