Oh wow, so we're about the same age. Though that was about when I got into the art style. I didn't actually start watching anime (by choice) until I was about 22. I'm a bit of a late bloomer

Why do I make AMVs? Well, a couple years ago, the guy who was my ex b/f (and best friend) at the time, now back to being b/f, showed me one of his (Which was uploaded here and I had to become a member to watch the thing) and I thought it was really cool and I'm so artsy and like to create. So I wanted to make my own. Then I started poking around here, and the more I watched, the more I wanted to create (Either b/c the video was good and I wanted to be neato like that, or b/c the video was bad and I figured I had to be able to do better) So yeah, I like creating and being artsy and expressing myself and stuff. And the voices told me to.

Actually? "Nobody else makes what I want to see" is an interesting statement if you take it out of context. I could say something similar, actually, in an entirely different context: because I have tastes X in anime and Y in music, and putting them together on topic Z is hopelessly specific unless I just get up and do it myself. Case in point: nobody bothered to make a video about a very minor character I found interesting, as far as I could ever find, so I just made one myself. Easier than waiting around. I still hope someone else will make a better one, but until then, I enjoyed trying.

Anyway, main reason is because it's fun. And I'm just messing around for my own entertainment, instead of making something to someone else's taskmastering and anal-retentive specs like in some other hobbies I shall decline to mention. :p

Because it's fun.

Because nobody in their right mind would make a Hello Kitty Action AMV, so I'm working on one now.

But I mainly do it because it's fun as well.

YAY!!!!! MORE HK VIDEOS!!!!!!!!

I decided after I did my HK/Korn video that I would take it upon myself to fill the site w/ HK videos. (And HK banners. I got one worthy. Moohahaha!!!!

) I have 3 more HK AMVs in mind. One might take a while b/c I have to do some of my own animation (B/c I haven't found a HK & Friends rav.) And yes, I have thought about it. No, I'm not in my right mind.

I started watching anime as a kid, and could tell the difference between the Hanna Barberra crap (post 1960) and the anime. I remember pointing that out to my mom once. Things have certainly come a long way since then.

My first experience with AMVs happened in 2002, though. I tripped across Aluminum Studios' website while looking for Sailor Moon episodes, and was hooked.

It's a fun hobby. It will continue to be a fun hobby until another fun hobby takes its place. ^_^
