Dude shut the hell up. You can't stoop to his level because you're already on the ground. I recommend you stop making yourself look like an idiot, and back down so this thread can be forgotten.

i havn't seen the best of you music video so i dunno, but personally i see no story in Jihaku. I see a theme but no story. from what you said, just becuase it uses the same theme as the original video doesn't mean that the original even had a story to tell either (again i havn't seen it). But even if there was a story in the original video, the qoute you posted only says that the theme was the same, not the story.

Nope.

If that's how they perceive it.. then it's possible : ]

Okay I popped in here wondering how a thread like this became 9 pages long so fast. I saw the apparent argument, and went back 2 pages to get the jist of what's going on...and I have to say Knowname you (with the help of Koop) are carrying on a pointless debate. Whether something has a story it is can be subjective to the viewer...but ultimately it's the creators decision on whether or not there's any actual story, or just simply a concept to carry the video along (like Pwolf pointed out with his video), and arguing with the creator is pointless as they don't need to prove a point that they don't need to make.

You need to remember a story has to have a beginning, middle, and end/climax with a point, or a resolve (usually). A video with a spiffy introduction and then random footage envoking some kind of emotion that ends finally in a similar fasion as it begun has no more story than an actual Madonna video (like Frozen, no real point to the video..but it looks cool).

ps. if you respond to me..don't make it into a dozen quotes, keep it short.

ALSO it's has be brought to my attention that I misjudge the actual topic of the debate, so bare with me as I make this short. Videos do not need to have a story, to carry on or progress. I should know, most of my amv cataloge has no story including the current live action video I'm working on, and my video's are no debatable so don't make me bring out Caesar.

o.O yea wtf does that mean? it's not a newreport (tho i did use audio segments from news reports in the video...) and it has no story.

Pwolf
a narration is "consisting of or characterized by the telling of a story" Jihaku's very info page says "it's the same theme of the song, same theme of the original music video." therefore it IS a retelling of a story. Hopefully your more literate than Koop in that you can 1 figure out that a and b match or 2 show me some hard evidence where I went wrong.
Theme DOES NOT = Story.

Have you even seen the Foo Fighters - Best of You video?

Click on the little circled arrow on the left side halfway down the page. It will open up a new window.

The actual video is even more random.

Story =/= Substance.

I dunno where anyone got that idea. Hell, Batman and Robin (The Clooney one) had a story, that didn't save it from being a substanceless pile of crap.

Sincerity = Substance.

Did the creator put effort into creating something that had a part of them or their dream in it? Were they making an AMV that they wanted the world to see for reasons above simply pumping something out? These factors dictate substance, and when it all comes down to it, a video's substance is as relative as the imagination of the creator.

Now please stop arguing, ffs.

A story is vital in an AMV, even if its your own.

Even though I'm absolutely 100% against saying or giving my own opinion in forums because it's just a place for people to start meaningless arguments and have them span over weeks cause of delayed responses; I feel that this topic is important to me, so I will let my opinion be heard. While it’s true that a story need not be told in ALL amv's, it still needs some kind of a base to work up from. You can't just have people punching, hitting, killing, random things in an action amv set to some random song with a random beat. Sure it’s cool to the eye but afterwards you ended up just watching it for the fricken punching and cool effects. If you were to introduce a story of some kind then it will be all the more interesting. Sure punching and kicking random things is cool but setting up a story like in naruto's case for example: Naruto is always being put down but he overcomes his inferiority and proves to everyone that he is a great ninja in the end. Add that to some intense fight scenes with some scenes that point that out I.E. him training, and studying, etc. Then you have yourself not just an action amv but an action amv that is MEANINGFUL. My pathetic example probably won’t get my point across but I don’t care, really. I'm not saying all this to change your ideal's, I'm saying all this to let you all know that while a storyline may not be important to YOU in some way or form, it is important to others; so don’t get angry when they give a QC or a OP regarding it. It's their right to give it. As well it is your right to defend your own values in an amv but don't get angry at others for theirs.

Anyways this is my first and probably last post because I hate forums for the reasons above. Comment against this all you want, I hate arguing anyways. :P
