A possibly stupid n00bish question

Hello there! I'm new here (and to making AMVs) and I'm pretty sure most of you awesome people are sick to death of people asking this basic question - but I did a search and couldn't find much info so...please forgive me.

Could I just ask, what would be the best program to use for making an AMV, and why?

I'm using Windows Movie Maker at the moment (crappy, I know). It's incredibly buggy and crashes at the slightest touch. And for some strange reason, every time I load in my project, about a dozen ffdshow icons will pop up on my status bar for no reason. Am I doing something wrong here? I can't continue work on my amv at the moment because it crashes every single time I touch it. *le sigh*

Any advice would be great. Thank you!

uninstall/disable fddshow?

If I do that, the videos in my project won't load at all, unfortunately.

What software is best? Pick something.

What ever you can afford. I use a pretty basic program but its loads better than WMM.

Most people here use a version of Premiere Pro.... Some use Sony Vegas like myself...

I have vegas but it takes a while to learn -_-

its still easier to use the premiere pro

i found the best program for breaking away from WMM was pinnacle 7, because of it's similar layout.
