Quick question...

I ripped some footage from a DVD using DVD Decrypter and indexed it with DGIndex. Problem is that I can't get the show's subtitles to show up. I looked in the guide, but I didn't see anything telling me how to do it.

The guides are made for preparing footage for AMV's, not for copying DVD's. We wanna get rid of subtitles, not have them in. Do some research at doom9, they have the guides and the tools.

Also, I downloaded AMVAPP, so I have all of programs that came with that.

I'd still aprecciate it if someone would answer my question though... I've had enough of looking through manuals and FAQs that don't have a straight-forward answer to my question. (I need to get up and look for a job, and it seems like most hiring managers leave early in the afternoon)

Okay, now I'd REALLY appreciate an answer. I'm not in the mood for reading through walls of text that are filled with jargon and links to other walls of text, that forum doesn't allow you to post until you've been registered for five days, and all of the topics over there relating to this problem either answer a very specific problem, refer to those aforementioned manuals and FAQs, or respond with a wall of text. I JUST WANT TO TAKE A DAMN SCREENSHOT OF A SCENE ON A DVD WITH THE SUBTITLES TURNED ON! (yeah, I'm just a little frustrated right now)

I'm using AMVAPP. Here's what I want to know:

1. What codecs do I need?
2. What do I do to turn the subtitles on once I have those codecs?

The easiest way is to just play the DVD in your DVD playback software and do a screen capture. I have PowerDVD 5.0, so all I have to do is start playback, select the subtitle I want and click on the "capture" button (looks like a little camera). Then open my image editing software and Paste (Ctrl+V) the image in and save as a new file.

Regular printscreen doesn't work on this computer (when you hit, nothing happens), and whenever I took programs that were meant to solve that problem and used them to try to take screencaps of DVDs, the screencaps always came out black. So I have to do it this way.

Turn off your video hardware acceleration or disable overlays in Windows Media Player. Then you can use Print Screen and not get black pictures.

Supposedly Windows Media Player has a screen capture function Ctrl+I. Although my WMP9 refuses to do anything if I try to use it.

You may need to resize the resultant image to the correct aspect ratio. My PowerDVD 5.0 puts a 720x480 image on the clipboard so 4:3 images need to be resized to 640x480.

I tried that too.

Either way, I think that it would be easier to just install the right codecs and input a command line for subtitles than it would be to take each image into infranview or paint and cut out the blackness and frames everytime.

BTW, don't take this as my being ungrateful. Thanks for the help, but I'd rather adapt the methods that I'm used to using.
