The preference would be to upload it to the FTP site as sending out the instructions and having it uploaded garantees that it is the creators entry and he is entering it into the contest(I want to be as fair as possible and also I just don't want to have someone provide me a link that ends up being soneone elses video)Sky_William wrote:I'm in as well. Is it alright if I just send a link to my submission vid and text file? And if so, I send an email with the attached links to programming@animethon.org right?

I sent an email this morning with these questions but haven't gotten an answer back, I know it's not been very long but as I'll be out of town starting tomorrow I'll have to upload the video today and need answers somewhat quickly
Here's what I sent:
Two quick questions. First off, can the encoding be in MPEG-1 for the AMV Contest? And if not, I know it says XviD is acceptable, but how well will it be converted to the proper format?
And two, in the video itself I have "Greenjinjo Studios" (so, technically a bumper). If absolutely required, I could cut it out of the video, but if not, is this a problem?
Thanks

I seen your e-mail, but I work during the day
If encoded to Xvid in a reasonable bit rate, quality will be much better then mpeg1. But both formats are acceptable, just mpeg1 will not look as good on the big screen. Generally 720x480 using 29.97 fps is best, but I can deal with other acceptable rates as well (24, 23.97, etc)
All video get converted to Mpeg2 unless they are already provided in that format as I play as is for the contest. For the judging discs, I convert everything so that all the videos are in the same settings.
As for the bumper, all judging is done blind to give even fairness to the videos and hence requires that there are no bumpers. As stated in the rules, acceptable bumpers are ones at the end of the video once the music has stopped, as I will crop it there for the Judging version. If there is a bumper at the beginning, it will be cropped as the contest used title cards for a more even look. If the bumper is at the end or in the video, then providing both one with or without it is the best and makes my work easier.

Right, sounds good. How late would I be able to send an email in today and get the FTP information back tonight?
