Just because your song is five minutes long,

In my opinion, AMVs that run past five minutes are nice if you are really bored, or have nothing better to do. I would only finish watching one that long if I liked the music and the editor did a good job. But even that sometimes can't help it. Five minutes is just too long. I remember seeing a real good AMV once, and it was Five and a half minutes long, and I got tired of it after watching it once. And I only watched it once more after that.

Some of my favourite songs hover around the ten-minute mark, so you can imagine what my opinion on that is.Fatal Sin wrote:In my opinion, AMVs that run past five minutes are nice if you are really bored, or have nothing better to do. Hey, whatever floats your boat. If you like AMVs that drag on like that, but you like the music, more power to ya! But I prefer AMVs to be around the 2-4 minute mark, give or take a few seconds.Melanchthon wrote:Some of my favourite songs hover around the ten-minute mark, so you can imagine what my opinion on that is.Fatal Sin wrote:In my opinion, AMVs that run past five minutes are nice if you are really bored, or have nothing better to do. There are some amv's that are good long and others that make the baby jesus want to vomit. I generally need something to hold my attention that long and there are amv's that have done it for. Others, that are longer than that I think start out strong then begin to lose it about halfway through and I'm like no more.

So in essence, what you're saying is that anyone who cuts the audio in the kind of videos you like is ruining your AMV experience.Cornwiggle wrote: If you can't use the WHOLE song, then don't use it.
And I'm not talking about those multi-vids, I'm talking about the kind of genre of AMV I like, the ones that focus on something with ONE song. Editing the song down because you can't do the whole thing, means you should find another. That's how I think.

As it has been said before..As a veiwer, I'd much rather watch a video that edited out part of the song and entertained me rather than sit though one that someone used the whole song and did a terrible job trying to edit in filler for the parts that should have been cut.
As an editor, if I find a song I want to edit to and decide that part of it doesn't really fit what I had in mind, and I can cut that part out cleanly and have my video come out like I want it..then that's exactly what I'm going to do.

It's perfectly possible for a two-and-a-half-minute AMV to drag horribly.Fatal Sin wrote:If you like AMVs that drag on like that, but you like the music, more power to ya! But I prefer AMVs to be around the 2-4 minute mark, give or take a few seconds.
