There will be an Iron Editor Competition at Otakon this year- the Iron Editor is now officially sponsored by Otakorp (and they own and provide the computers), so it would be kind of silly for them to not have it. I haven't heard any specific details, but I will be very surprised if we don't have a much larger room for it than last year. Last year they didn't realize how much of a draw it would be- this year they've said we'll have a more appropriately sized room from what I've heard.
As for the competitors, that hasn't been 100% nailed down yet either. Ultimately, the decision on the competitors rests with Omar/Waldo as he's the one who runs the event. Historically though the challenger (and a new 'champion' if one is necessary, as has been the case several times, but I don't expect that to be the case this year since I know AtomX plans to be there) is not picked from a pool of people who are asking to do it but instead from those who the coordinator feels will do well in the event. Though there is occasionally convergence between those two, I'm pretty sure that when Quu was running it he essentially discounted anyone who actually asked him if they could be in the competition.

I think you're both losing those challenges.ANTDrakko wrote: I challenge Vic to a dance-off.

This was supposed to be the year of the Iron Chef Tournament. The current Iron Chefs from the 4 major Iron Editor Cons (Anime USA, AWA, Otakon, ACen) were going to do semifinal rounds at ACen and Otakon, and then the two finalists were to compete at AWA. But this hasn't exactly panned out (both ACen semifinalists were unable to attend the con, so two other editors stepped in to take their places), so who knows if Omar will still bother keeping the Otakon lineup intact (as it stands now, it's supposed to be AtomX vs. MeriC + VegettoEX).Ashyukun wrote:As for the competitors, that hasn't been 100% nailed down yet either. I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Yeah, Omar hasn't told me yet whether he is planning on keeping with the Tournament or not. Liz (who won the ACen one) is planning on being at AWA, so it could go forward. As I told Omar- part of being in Iron Editor/Chef is showing up, so there's some precedent for just declaring Liz the winner of the first round and having her matched up against either Brad or M&M at AWA. But as I said- I haven't heard from Omar what the final decision is on that yet. My gut tells me (in addition to the fact it wants a snack. Shut up, gut!) we'll probably stick with the tournament if for no other reason than Omar hasn't lined someone else up for Otakon.Kusoyaro wrote:This was supposed to be the year of the Iron Chef Tournament. Of course, I still like the idea of making the winner of this tournament take you on at AWA next year, Hsien.

I second this motion and move to add and amendment where said winner just forfeits their match and then Hsien has to be Iron Chef again and keep editing.Ashyukun wrote:Of course, I still like the idea of making the winner of this tournament take you on at AWA next year, Hsien.
