Ah, I see, I see... I won't feel so bad now. lol. What is your opinion on those who submit their videos to multiple contests? Like for my Clones to End All Clones I was contemplating submitting it to the Anime Festival Orlando contest.... but then, I realized that there's resentment against submitting something to more than one convention... ._. But oh well, I'm making a new AMV for the comedy division anyway.

x2. opinions are nice, but hearing and seeing the actual reaction first hand is so much more rewardingKariudo wrote:And I'd prefer a 50 foot screen with 300 crazed anime fans
KioAtWork: I'm so bored. I don't have class again for another half hour.

I agree. When the crowd burst out laughing and gasped and when ' ohhhhhhhhh! they did not do that! ' to the heartattack clip, I was smiling and emotions were high. Its a great experience.Minion wrote:x2. opinions are nice, but hearing and seeing the actual reaction first hand is so much more rewardingKariudo wrote:And I'd prefer a 50 foot screen with 300 crazed anime fans
The feeling of being denied of awardage is not, BUT, the crowd reaction is so satisfying.

I always plan to not put anything up until I premiere at some con or another (although I tend to premiere at small cons anyways o.o;; ) but i've reicently come to realize that the majority of the people at an AMV contest aren't coming here and getting videos all the time anyways, so there will always be a vast majority of of the people there that haven't seen the video anyways.

Looks like you and me might be goin against each other at this 1 then. This is gonna be my first AMV that's actually comical, but I have a feeling it's gonna blow some peoples minds away. Only problem is that it's gonna be really short, so I dunno if it'll be funny enough. That's if I can finish it in time though. I'll be working on it alot after MetroCon, so we'll see. Right now I'm worrying more about my cosplay than enything else. If yer goin look for the worst Devil May Cry 3 cosplay and that's me.Ladymercury wrote:Ah, I see, I see... I'm making two, give me two shots at the gold. lol, Action and Comedy... if I can squeeze into the drama with a third, hell, I'll go for that too

Short and sweet can win, but from what I've noticed at AFO amv contests that if its a parody and done with a popular anime (ie: One Piece -Captain Hampton and the Midget Pirates and then the following year Naruto - Ninja of the Night ) it'll win, but from what I hear the AMV contest is ran by a new person so that may change

I'm holding out cause i want to suprise the audience... only my group of friends that im going with have seen the results of my A-kon vid cause they were beta testers...
i think it would dull down the experience if people have seen it already when they watch it at the con.

I think it depends entire on the video, the con, the editor, and possibly other nonlinear factors. Some cons (I think) have rules about when you can release videos you have entered. You should consider the con audience. If it's AWA, then by all means, keep it quiet. It it's SmallTownConWithTwoEditorsTotal (like mine), then chances are low that any of the audience members are likely to see the video between release and con.

If it's finished within a few weeks of a con, I'll often wait to premiere it at the convention. If we're talking over a month or so, then I'll usually go ahead and release it on the .org first.
I'm also putting a few things together for AFO, though I don't know whether or not they'll get released here first. I may go ahead and release the comedy beforehand on the .org, and have the drama entry premiere at the con. All depends on when they're finished, I suppose.
