Tips on how to get back into making amv's...

Listen to a lot of music and think what makes a good video in my opinion
and try to let the music control you like a demon and get to work.
That always works good for me, that way it's always the musics fualt

Procrastinate. After you're done procrastinating, watch some of your favorite videos, and then sit in front of your computer screen doing absolutely nothing for a few days. When you finally get so bored of that go do something else, then watch some more videos. Eventually, jutst get so annoyed with yourself that you open up premiere and start working.

Okay, I have TONS of ideas for songs. But keeping intrest on that idea... that's another story.. :\

I have to say when I get insperation is because the idea makes me want to jump right into making the video. Also another thing is seeing your video at a convention. I know ANTDrakko back at Anime Boston last year got inspired to make another amv after seeing his amv in the finals. Personally it is the challenge of making a good amv. I enjoy making music videos but the challenge to put it to the song and time it just right keeps me motivated. For there is always something to improve on plus different styles of music to use and different categories of amv's to make. I switched from Drama to Action AMV's for a while because I felt like doing something different and to keep my intrest. So try to switch things up. The worse thing you can do is force an amv. You'll get your insperation again. Maybe download some more amv's and maybe one of those amv's will inspire you to create more.

I never really thought about doing that, but i'll keep that in mind.

Go watch an AMV contest at a convention.

Or go to a con and watch Phade put on the best AMV's from the org. It was "standing room only" every time he had a showing at Anime Detour.

That sounds good, i'll probably might get that chance if I come to AWA. (maybe)

Yup, I'm in the middle of this stage right now since I finished my last AMV 2 weeks ago.

I'd say download the latest most popular subs. I get AMV ideas for 90% of all the anime I watch. Watch some anime, the AMV ideas come in.

... I pretty much constantly watch anime and listen to music as well... so I pretty much never run out of ideas. It's a curse.

Honestly, the thing that got me back into making some form of amvs has been not doing them at all. I did other things like watch anime, hang out with friends. Sounds like you got burned out. You might be craving a time out. I'd say write all the ideas you have down somewhere but don't force yourself to do it. It's no fun if it's a chore and you'll probably not produce your best work. When you get that sudden crave to edit then do it at that exact point if you can. When it goes away let it sit. Rinse and repeat.

I don't know why but ideas seem to flow more to me during those times..
