Dir en grey (Interest Gauge)

Post by Alastor BDC » Tue May 09, 2006 8:12 am

ok I've been thinking of starting a Dir en grey mep project, but before that I'm wondering who will be interested .

If anyone doesn't know this band here is a quick info:
Dir en grey is a popular Japanese rock band formed in 1997. Starting out as a Visual Kei act the group has since experimented with various styles while maintaining the steady lineup of 京 (Kyo) (vocals), 薫 (Kaoru) (guitar), Die (guitar), Toshiya (bass) and Shinya (drums). Their current music has become quite eclectic and is difficult to categorize, though generally they play a form of Hard rock music.

This mep is going to contain songs from the early albums to the latest one, so basically this mep is a tribute to Dir en grey.
The segments are going to run about 30-50 secs.
If anyone is interested post away ^_^.

well, as for experimental and weird music, I'm always interested! :P
I actually know dir en grey through the officially released album in europe and have quite some ideas.
however, it would be rather helpful to suggest or offer sth like a concept (just sth raw, since it is an interest gauge).

as for me, you have to give me time to edit, since school always takes me back, so: summer holidays would be the right time

According to your profile you've never made an amv. Yet your starting a mep?

I assume that, if he's not an utter dumbass, he knows some technical stuff that allows him to coordinate (moreover, he actually edited a lot, but didn't upload anything so far).
to proof my trust, maybe you could submit your guidelines in terms of format, quality, framerate and all the jazz?

O yea sorry I forgot to post the concept of this mep
well consider the bands music is always about pain, lost, and despair the mep is going to be about that, so that means the amv haves to have that touch .

Well this is a interest gauge but if you guys want to know the specs I would need the segments in either huffyuv YUY 2 color or high bitrate xvid codec (I'll go with huffy, the files come out crispy clean ^_^).
Resolution would be 720x480, if the original source is a 16:9 letterbox it and last but not least the framerate will be 23.976 .
O yea this is a given but I'll still say it, the quality needs to be dvd quality .

guidelines are okay with me, firstly I'm in and secondly, gimme time ^^

anyways, if we don't make amvs for the new album merely, could you hand out some samples for what they did before (because here in europe it's difficult to find material unless you import o_O)

Well I need more people to join to give a official beta deadline and the final deadline, but I would say that the beta deadline may be the 1st of August. That would give enough people time to edit plus summer vacation is the time everyone has to edit . Each person can grab 1 or 2 segments, but like all meps, animes can not be use more then once. They are 17 spaces in the project. Here is the tracklist of what I got so far:

Intro: Cage [00:00 - 00:31]
Seg 1: Cage [00:31 - 01:17]
Seg 2: Yokan [01:18 - 01:58]
Seg 3: Raison D'etre [01:59 - 02:47]
Seg 4: FILTH [02:48 - 03:26]
Seg 5: gyakujou tannou keloid milk [03:27 - 04:11]
Seg 6: The Domestic F**ker Family [04:12 - 04:40]
Seg 7: Hydra [04:41 - 05:08]
Seg 8: Umbrella [04:41 - 05:54]
Seg 9: Obscure [05:55 - 06:39]
Seg 10: Kasumi [06:40 - 07:26]
Seg 11: Drain Away [07:27 - 08:08]
Seg 12: Child Prey [08:09 - 08:47]
Seg 13: -Saku- [08:48 - 09:37]
Seg 14: Machiavellism [09:38 - 10:24]
Seg 15: C [10:25 - 11:08]
Seg 16: Dead Tree [11:09 - 11:44]
Seg 17: Kodou [11:45 - 12:43]
Outro: The Final (Not included in the mix)

Here is the Mix
When I start this project I'll provide each cut segment in wav, so this mix is just to listen :D
