Tv tuner help
A few months ago i bought an external tv tuner so i could record my plastation 2 games while i was playing it so i could make my own videos with them. the problem is it looks fine at 350 x 240 but at 640 x 480 or higher it looks like crap. the best i could make the footage look was like a vhs tape. how do i get it to look like it does on the game (like it is when i'm playing it on tv? the tuner is hooked up by USB.

I'll simply refer you to this forum. That should help you out quite a lot, assuming you have a DVD drive. Good luck.

I believe Bashar was referring to a discussion (or a rule, I can't rememeber which and I can't find it now), that stated that video game play footage is not suited for this website. Certain video game cutscense are accepted, but not the actual gameplay. This may or may not affect your situation.siragin wrote:I actually have the game im trying to use.
However, with your capture issue, I fear you may be severely limited in terms of quality because your box is USB. There may be no other way around this except better hardware. But we still could use some more info, like what specific model your using. And some other questions I have...
Why 350x240? Is that the largest size it will capture? And what program(s) are you using to capture and then enlarge the video? Have you tried capturing at 320x240 and then enlarging?

Re: Tv tuner help
By not using an analog TV tuner. The only way to get your output footage from a PS2, that's assuming you want game footage and everything, not just ripping FMVs, is to get RGB out and a card capable of capturing RGB.siragin wrote:the best i could make the footage look was like a vhs tape. how do i get it to look like it does on the game (like it is when i'm playing it on tv? the tuner is hooked up by USB.

Check the capture software: maybe there is an option(s) for higher size or bitrate. If not, then you probably need new hardware.A few months ago i bought an external tv tuner so i could record my plastation 2 games while i was playing it so i could make my own videos with them. the problem is it looks fine at 350 x 240 but at 640 x 480 or higher it looks like crap. the best i could make the footage look was like a vhs tape. how do i get it to look like it does on the game (like it is when i'm playing it on tv? the tuner is hooked up by USB.
The (very) good: Canopus ADVC55 or ADVC110. Requires Firewire port on the PC and S-Video on the PS2. Captures 720x480 in DV codec. Cost $200-$300.
The adequate: Hauppage WINTV-PVR-150. Internal PCI card, captures 720x480 in MPEG2. Includes TV tuner. Cost approx $100.
