File names.

What filenames format do you use with your final distribution? Somtimes when I download an AMV, the name can be very sloppy... i.e., amvtest.avi O.o' Anyways, what do you use yourself, and what do you prefer?

I use studio name (abbreviation, actually) then the AMV's title.

I prefer the format: STUDIO/EDITOR NAME - AMV TITLE - OTHER TEXT (re-mastered, song title, anime title, XVID, DIVX, MPEG, etc.) since it makes it easier for me to find a certain AMV if I can remember who made it. Or at least use the title if it is memorable or distinct enough.

The video's title is a good start, as is the format (for my own benifit as well as that of the person looking at it). Other than that, I often like to have the editor's handle on a vid, but i'm perfectly willing to add it on if it's not there.

I tend to use <ANIME> - <ARTIST> - <SONG>.<EXTENSION>, since that's how I keep track of AMVs mentally.

Most of the time I put the name of the video. I normally have the the name of my studio and all that actually in the video... :o

I hate it when it's only the title... I mean, I have to open the file to realize it's an AMV :o

Code: Select all

echo `md5sum [TITLE]-[YEAR]-[ANIME]-[CENTURY].{mp4,mkv}`.mp4
I should start doing that.

LOL.

1.) You can rename it yourself, however you want.
2.) You can put them in a folder called "AMV", so you know what in there is an AMV.

While it may seem nice to have all that stuff like creator and anime (what you do with multi-anime AMV?), it's unecessary. All information is available at download. And if you can't remember an AMV soley from it's title, it wasn't remarkable at all.
