the argument is that we already have a preview button, which should be good enough.
there is also a possibility that people will abuse the edit button, leading to forum-wide degeneration into incoherent babble of people editing other's posts and spam galore.
...besides...it's more fun to curse the lack of edit button
personally, I'd like an edit button. I know it won't happen, so I just read through my previews and double/triple post when neccesary

How would we edit other people's posts? Is the edit button here different from other forums, or are you just exagurating? ((<-Can't spell that word to save my life))Kariudo wrote: there is also a possibility that people will abuse the edit button, leading to forum-wide degeneration into incoherent babble of people editing other's posts and spam galore.
Jasper-Isis: I see your point, but you misunderstood me a little bit. When I was talking about the whole 'Can you OP this instead?' thing, I was thinking more for topics that are focused on one video (Example: 'OP my latest video!'). Lets say you don't want that video op'ed anymore (reached your goal or whatever), and you would prefer to have the next batch of people OP a different video or just any of your videos, you could just change the first post so everyone who looks at the topic would know what you want OPed. Heck, you could change your first post to say 'This thread is closed'.
Honestly, a heck of a lot of people don't look throgh the thread to see if the thread-maker had changed their minds on videos, or sometimes if the dang thread is closed, especially when that post is somewhere between page 2 and 5 of the thread.
I have no idea how to wrap this up, so I'll just leave this up to discussion. I hope I made sence this time.

The reasons are simple, i will provide examples for two reasons, for those who are logically-challenged:
Example 1
Person A posts an offensive and abusive comment reffering to Person B ("heaven forbid!" i hear you cry out)
Person B responds in a flaming comment of their own (tsk tsk, just because they did it first don't give you permission to do it too)
Person A then edits their original post changing the flame to a nice comment, or just a general observation. They then alert the mods of Person B's comment to them. Person B gets banned. Person A gets away scot free.
Actually, i kinda like the idea of that
can we get edit buttons?
Example 2
Person A starts up an op exchange. (Yay)
Persons B and C reply and leave they're opinions.
Person A changes the original post to show it as them asking for opinions.
Persons B and C exact their revenge by changing the op scores to all 1's.
Person A alerts the mods/admins.
Persons B and C are in twubble (oh noes!) as they have no evidence to support them.
Actually, i kinda like the idea of that too
There is no need for an edit button. If you post, and then read over your post and realise you made a mistake, why the heck couldn't you preview and read it BEFORE you posted?! If you make a mistake, correct it, double post if you must.

^ see that post above? No mistakes! you know why? because i previewed and read it
O:
the horror. the effort. oh noes.
btw - if there is a mistake, then @#$% it. < - that reminds me about the language filter. Give me one good reason why we can't have curses? If they're directed at someone, punishment will be dealt. What's wrong with general curses? They're just words! WORDS!

First off id like to say that for example 1 the person B shouldnt have responded like that... they should have went to the admins like person AProdigi wrote:The reasons are simple, i will provide examples for two reasons, for those who are logically-challenged:

For example 2 get on with your life its just an op. ops shouldnt be so valuable anyways and they wouldnt be if people werent so lazy.
