Perhaps another stupid question
What would type of sword would Cloud's be?
I asked one of my friends if maybe it would be considered a broad sword, but he said it's probably too broad.
Another friend suggested a sword that started with a Z, but I can't remember what she called it. She said she saw it on Kenshin, but I've never watched Kenshin. Does Cloud's sword have no connection to history? Did no one ever use a sword that large? Is this a stupid question?

This is probably as close as you can get to a real replica of his sword...

His sword is called a Buster Sword in the game. As for a realistic sword, I don't think one really exists. The link I provided has a lifesize version of it, but the width looks like it is narrowe than the actual version.

I think the problem is, Cloud's Buster Sword would have to have one HELUVA heavy hilt, made of solid steel, and the blade itself would have to be made of steel folded well over a thousand times, as well as most likely being extremely thin and most likely hollow. However, if it were made of Titanium, it would be lighter than steel and much stronger. It's possible that it's made of that, and again, folded hundreds of times, with most of the weight being fuond in the hilt and guard. Needless to say, Ahnold would have trouble wielding that thing.

if I remember correctly (took a little bit of thinking) I think the weapon you are refereing to is the zanbatou (a massive sword capable of striking down horse and rider in one swift blow)
I'd have to agree with your friend there, it would probably be considered a zanbatou. Broadswords are heavy, but you can still swing them...but I can't imagine trying to do anything with the cloud buster
