there are a lot of threads on this topic already, most of them are in "site help"

if you noticed, there were database errors over the weekend, around the same time, the upload queue stopped working.

From time to time one or more of the servers have fits, and things don't work
people then harass derobert until it's fixed.

Since I think derobert has another job (like most of the members here...even if it's being a student) it won't get fixed overnight. With luck things should be back to normal by tomorrow or Thursday.

please be patient

The upload confirmation daemon was started with the --piss-you-off argument. If you calm down, it'll work.

Seriously, I just uploaded a video. Took 30 seconds, if that, to get out of the queue.

i fail to see a resemblance between 30 sec of waiting and 50 minutes of waiting

Except for derobert, because obviously he has nothing better to do with his life.

That's because you need to think a little harder about it. I was calm throughout the entire process, so my video was processed faster.

The .org's confirmation queue makes use of emotion-sensing devices present on most modern PCs, interfaces to which are present in all major browsers. Data from these sensors is routinely transmitted to listening agents -- e.g. the .org confirmation queue -- which can then adjust parameters as necessary.

One part of that data is the "velocity" vector (for lack of a better name), which reports the magnitude and direction of the user's emotions as floating-point numbers. The .org queue considers only two major subsets of direction -- angry and calm.

The speed of the .org's confirmation queue processing is inversely related to magnitude, while the sign of that speed is inversely related to direction. There is also a (roughly) constant amount of time that is required for normal processing duties, which can be adjusted by these emotional sensors. This constant is more-or-less pseudo-random, owing to normal processing tasks (running the Web server, system upkeep, etc.)

Now, you started out with a calm attitude; that is probably true. However, it's quite likely that you were simply dealt a rather bad series of time quanta -- maybe the server was just really busy, or something. (These things just happen on non-realtime modern multitasking operating systems.) Your rising anger was detected b y the aforementioned emotion sensors, which was reported back to the .org confirmation queue agent, which (finally!) lowered the priority of your job.

A similar scenario is probably applicable to the other ~200 videos in the queue.

The more likely explanation, however, is that something is just backed up and will be fixed as time allots.

Furthermore, the fact that you even took me seriously (where "seriously" can be defined as "you bothered to question logic where none clearly existed") is strong evidence that your sense of facetiousness and sarcasm is lacking.
