Probably a question asked many times, but...

Post by gandy » Fri Apr 14, 2006 11:59 am

I bought a CD and am trying to get a track from it into WMM, but I can't seem to do it. There's probably a real simple solution. The song will play on RealOne, but when when I try to import the track it says it can't.

You'll need a program to extract the Audio track. See this part of the guide for that.

Before asking, THINK!!! Have you read The Guides, consulted The Wiki and watched The Corn?

It's called WMP. But you'll get better quality, and have less trouble editing, with Chameleon's advice.

I looked at the guide, but I don't think I trust myself on downloading an ASPI layer. I'm new at all of this, and I don't really understand all that was said. Would it make my computer a lot slower? And is it free? I have a habit of screwing things up.

Speaking of...

I tried WMP, and for awhile it seemed to work, but when I tried to put the song in WMM it said it couldn't because it was copy protected, and now the CD won't play on WMP. It doesn't even show up when I put the CD in the drive on My Computer! When I try to open it, it says 'please insert a disk.' Argh! However, the file will play from My Library. Am I just being stupid?

Thanks for the advice
(Oh, and gangstaj8, I love your avatar. That's one of my favorite episodes of Trigun)

No. Yes. But you may not need to install it. You can double check with that ASPI checker that's mentioned in that guide, but it looks like you already have what you need.

No, that's partly my fault cause I don't use WMP anymore, so I don't know what all it does now-a-days. Try using EAC just like that guide says, it should work fine. Alternately, I usually suggest, (and should've in my last post), using a program called CDex. It's pratically the same as EAC though, so take your pick. If that all works fine, then find the stuff you did with WMP and delete it, both from the library and the HDD. Sorry I lead you in that direction, that's the last time I mention using WMP for ripping. Hope that helps, good luck.
