I'm thinking about making my first video, but I have some concerns about it. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice before I waste hours creating nothing of any importance. I've messed around creating a few images in Paint Shop Pro, but I've never done anything on this scale. If I do go through with it, I want to make sure I do as much right as possible.
The video's a crossover between Steel Angel Kurumi and Naruto. I know it sounds wierd but the story's all in my head. Actually, it's based off Tainted Donuts, in that the story and feel are very similar. Anyway, on to my questions.
I have Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Premier. Will I need After Effects if I want to make minor edits to scenes (and one big edit to Sakura)? I'm not planning on having any effects other than superimposing scenes.
I can't think of a song to use. I was hoping for a japanese song (so I wouldn't be distracted by the lyrics), preferably a mellow rock/rap style. Once again, I loved the way Tainted Donuts lip synched only during certain lines and I was hoping to use that. Does anyone have any songs or bands that I could look at?
Finally, do you think that my idea's even worth doing? It'll probably take most of the summer for me to do it, longer if my classes take up too much time.
I guess the last thing is, I don't know where to start. I think I can create a storyboard out of some still scenes once I find the song to synch with. But after that, should I just start editing in scenes until it's finished? Any general tips you can give me would be very helpful. Thanks.

I believe the most important part of making a video is planning. Be sure to tell a story while making the video. No one expects your first video to be a masterpiece, instead have fun with it. I would suggest Uverworld for your artist. They have some really cool songs. As far as your video goes, dont worry about special effects just yet, learn to use Adobe Premiere to its fullest. Remember, this is your video, so make something you would want to watch. Hope this helps and good luck!
