He could do that but maybe he'll end up going to "effects hyper mode" even then already and in his plans he'd already have the overkill of effects planned out

.... effects are over rated...

and sometimes i cant resist effects in my vids... but hey, if you want to put effects in... dew it... its just a video! if you think effects will make it look how you want it to look, then by all means add effects... for those who dont like it.. screw em! for those who do like it.. good! star wipes, barn doors, lens flares, their all just additions to a video... good or bad their just there to help you make the video how you want to make it...

I usualy think about what effects I wanna make in the AMV, while I plan the scene building. If I want a "memory shot" I write down "feather egdes" or "Black and white" or whatever I want to get. Only then I start tweeking everything to make it just right.

but not every amv has to have a story or a set of rules like that... experimentation is one of my favorite things about making an amv... lol

I try not to use effects much if at all. Sometimes I'll use them just to emphasize a sequence of beats in a song, but other than that, I just stick with basic fades and scene transitions. I'd like to learn how to use the masking effect, but right not, lazyness is getting in my way.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? You act as if loading a video with a bunch of glows and blurs and masks is all you can do to make a good video. How about instead of just copying everyone else and making complete shit, you take a step back and try to edit without the crutch of effects? It's like you're purposefully complicating something that's so easy to do, and the end product for all your hours in AE is just a bunch of fucking rectangles flying in and out of view with Shinji masked into a scene he was never in.
