AMV phenomenon repair brainstorm thread

Post by Daniel_BMS » Fri Mar 24, 2006 4:45 pm

With 1000's of important AMVs gone from a-m-v.org let's discuss ways to get these videos back into circulation. Nevermind if videos featuring groups by the missing 3 are any good. It's important for the things such as teenage angst to be represented through AMV's. Otherwise we should ban all Linkin Park videos too.

One way I can think to acquire AMVs besides the org is to use [MOD99: Filesharing program suggestion removed.] which is actually how I discovered a-m-v.org

For the best avaliable missing videos I suppose it's possible to email the authors and ask for a yousendit. But the best authors are likely to be the busiest.

Since information is still avaliable on the videos themselves, we can use that to search for them on other sources. Unfortunatelly this pretty much gaurentees we will only find some of the better videos.

Trade with friends and acquintances live in person: Go to cons and universities and ask for access to people's stash of AMVs. Only weakness is that people tend to keep the better videos and they even go so far as to delete videos that are good. Most people don't keep all of their stuff and then buy a backup for their stash, and then buy a backup for the backup.

What other ways are there that I am not naming?

Actually it isn't new to me at all. I was just doing some random browsing and remembered I had been meaning to touch on this subject. Something really needs to be done to preserve the history of AMVs.

All the banned bands suck, why should we worry about them?

What we SHOULD do is email FUNimation and ask them if they made all the DBZ amvs and hopefully they'll ask Phade to delete all the DBZ AMVs.

Where upon, assuming FUNi does get rid of DBZ AMVs, then, of course all Burst Angel, FMA, Case Closed, etc. AMVs would also be no longer avaliable for download.

that is so stereotyping, a linkinpark multieditor project that has been going on for quite some time right now would never see the light of day. Sure, they're overused, but that's because a certain group of people likes them. Just because you are not with that group doesn't mean you should stop them. You may look just as foolish in their eyes as well. I truly dislike DBZ and such, but hey, you aren't forced to watch them. Just don't go around searching "DBZ' or "Linkin Park" and you'll be fine.
