How to get audio off a VOB file - for Mac...

Okay, I read the part of the guide that says how to extract audio from a DVD. Trouble is, it's written for PC users and uses applications that make my iBook run and hide under the couch.

I've gotten as far as selecting the audio along with the video when I ripped the DVDs in OSEx. However, by the time I ran everything through Diva, JESDeinterlace, and finally imported them into iMovie, the sound was gone.

Has anyone tried to do a similar venture using Mac applications, and if so can you help me? I actually don't care if I get the audio and video together, I just want selected bits of dialogue so I can synch it with other stuff and mess with people's heads.

I'm using Haibane Renmei and Serial Experiments Lain, if that helps.

With MPEG Streamclip you can extract the audio from the VOB. However this program works best if you have MPEG-2 Playback for Quicktime.

Thanks! MPEG Streamclip worked wonderfully to extract the audio to an AIFF!

Too bad they authored it to siphon off Quicktime's MPEG playback function that you can't get without forking out thirty dollars. It might have worked well as an open-source application for ripping VOBs without going through OSEx and Diva.
