Listen to Pearl Jam's version of Last Kiss and tell me it's not exactly what you just described as Rock... Not to mention Jeremy, etc.

Who gives a crap about catagorizing music anyways? As long as good music is still coming out (which it is), I'm happy.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

Maybe because they like it? Not everyone has to appeal to your interests.

So true.

They have to appeal to mine.

Actually is this thread even going anywhere now? Is there anything left to contribute beyond:

Music videos tend to use cliched and popular music since lots of people make then, and when lots of people like something, averages begin to form. Once you have an average then you can lump 'popular' as the thing that the most people use/do/like. That specific genre, or group of interests will change over time as the people that comprise your source information change.

IE: popular stuff is popular because a lot of people like it.

well some ppl like to watch the video not concentrate on hearing something new as you watch the video. I like to vedge out to old Cheers or MASH reruns (ok I hadn't turned on the tv in a WHILE... but you get the idea...) cuz I know what their gonna say, I'm too tired to concentrate on that, I just want to laugh. You'll figure it out when you get a job. It's kinda' like traveling music. Some don't like words in them at all so my brother-in-law has a set of cds in his car of just like, Overclocked remixes. I HATE seeing those to videos. They make me crave a nice magazine and pop-jaks (or whatever their called) roll up into a ball and sleep through the rest of the trip.

for this reason I'm not so tollerant in listening to anything unfamiliar with my amv watching cuz I'm more interested in the video than I am the audio.

 oh, I REALLY enjoy good audio though... like when ppl introduce me to awesome new bands like Jamiroquai etc. (even Frau Frau, though I HATE You must be dreaming aka Euphoria) but really... it's a toss up.

The big thing with me is Sound Effects. And those have no meaning in this discussion.

AMVs DEFFINITELEY need sound effects, it's pathetic.
