do we need to have the "edit post" botton enabled. I don't like to double post but without the edit ability (except on recommended amv thread) aren't all us noobs subject to double posting?

No, not particularily. Post editing is very much subject to abuse. Just do this thing referred to as "proofreading".

Besides, post editing is already enabled in the forums where it will be of significant use.

I know I would.

And it's not like you'd be banned if you double posted. If it's a significant error, make a second post correcting yourself, if it isn't significant, such as forgetting a letter, or misspelling a few words, it doesn't really matter.

I love the fact that you can't edit post in most forums here. On some other site forums where you can edit willy-nilly, someone editing their posts will make other people's post seem like non-sense. Plus, it helps to discourage some of the flame wars that I see so prevalent on other sites. Although I do find it amusing to see the losers of those wars go and edit/delete all their posts after they get owned. But then, when you go and try to read the thread later you end up going, "Huh? What happend?"

I hope this encourages people to proof-read their posts and use the "Preview" function before hitting the "Submit" button. I guess most people are not paying attention in English classes or the western educational system is going downhill. Or maybe the internet is the cause of the seemingly lower IQ of the general population.

But most of all, I get to enjoy things like THIS. i

Yes.

If you need to add something (like forgetting a link to your video in AMV Announcements), double-posts aren't frowned upon here all that much, unless you're intentionally bumping a thread to keep it at the top of the list. Bad spelling isn't frowned upon here all that much either, unless you're completely incomprehensible. It's fairly forgiving all around.

Just check yourself for a second, it's not that bad. I don't think we'd gain a whole lot anyway.

It really would be nice if you could edit your post.
Maybe put a time limit up, perhaps one hour (or less) to edit before it becomes permanent.

It just feels like everything's written in pen without the chance to go back and edit. Lots of the time you don't catch your errors until after it's public, so what's the harm in giving a little leeway?
