Also check out Creativecow's forums, although they are more about After Effects and professional editing from what I've seen. They at least know what they are talking about there, as opposed to say, me.

Most guide books focus a great deal on working with live footage - just so you know. A lot of the information you'd get, you'd probably never use. Your best bet is to experiment with a few features (f1 for help or the book that came with the software if you bought it
) until you get comfortable the expand your comfort zone as you go.
